ZEG2024 was epic. At the time of so much uncertainty, these 3 days were filled with insights, joy, inspiration and real connection. Best team, best MCs, best speakers and - most importantly - the bestest audience in the world. Of all the memorable lines from #zeg my favorite was from @ngumenyuk “We keep talking about how much we have to lose. But look at how much we’ve got to defend”. Thank you the amazing @zegfest & everyone who came along for reminding us all how much we’ve got that’s worth defending ❤️ by @nantelava

Captivating to be @zegfest #Tbilisi Georgia at a critical moment in the country’s history. So many urgent and stimulating discussions including one featuring Karen Hao - author of The Empire of AI. It’s my first visit here and I’m enthralled - plus the yummy food - walnuts and aubergine with everything. And great discussions following my event on Deep Listening. Congratulations to all the fantastic team for dreaming up such a menu taken in Tbilisi, Georgia by @nantelava

What happens to media power when visibility no longer guarantees influence and algorithms control distribution?

Watch the conversation “After Visibility: What Remains of Media Power When Algorithms Own Distribution?” with @nantelava , journalist, co-founder and editor-in-chief of @codastory and @ngumenyuk , author and executive director of the @journ.lab.online.

🎞 The whole session is here on Lviv Media Forum YouTube channel.

The discussion took place at LMF 2026, held in Lviv on May 14–16 under the theme “Reality Under Attack: Flight, Freeze, or Fight.” The conference brought together more than 700 participants from 36 countries to discuss the challenges shaping media, democracy, and society today.

This conversation was organized in partnership with DW Akademie and Deutsche Welle, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

✍ Team ZEG shares:
〰️ Building ZEG’s program is like editing a magazine, except your readers are in the room with you, and you get to watch their faces change in real time. People think they’re coming for the big-name speaker or the panel on their favorite topic, but that’s never what gets them. It’s the unexpected collision between the climate scientist and the hip-hop artist, the moment when the war photographer tells a story that has never been told before, the conversation that happens because we put two people on stage who had no business being together. I’ve been a journalist all my life, but ZEG taught me that the best stories are often the one that surprises everyone - including yourself.
〰️ When you watch someone discover a new way of thinking about their own work because of something completely unrelated, that’s when you know the program worked. It’s messy, it’s unpredictable, and it’s exactly what the world needs more of.

💭 LMF 2026 clearly left a lot to reflect on

In this video, @nantelava, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of @codastory, reflects on this year’s conference program, the discussions that stood out to her, and the ideas she took away.

LMF 2026 is organized by the team of the NGO Lviv Media Forum. We would like to express our gratitude to our strategic partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan), @rtienglish for supporting the conference. by @nantelava

In Ukraine, conference announcements casually include bomb shelter protocol. Which makes sense, because the forum itself is taking place inside a bomb shelter in Lviv.

Reality under attack. Literally.

Immense respect for the calm, razor-sharp, badass team behind Lviv Media Forum. by @nantelava

I know I say this every year, but this was the best Perugia yet…So many brilliant people, sharp ideas, hilarious moments, poignant conversations — and endless reminders why we all need journalism … and great djs like @marcorosss_

Someone asked me to describe the International Journalism Festival in one word. I think *essential* is the word

And behind it all are two absolute legends — Arianna Ciccone and Christopher Potter — and their wild, kind, multi-talented, generous family of co-conspirators.

Thank you #ijf26 team. What an honor to think and party alongside you all ❤️
