Like we get it... she’s a cute rescued Florida panther cub who was abandoned and weighed just 3 pounds, then given a second chance at life... 🙄 You know what? Actually, yeah. She deserves all the likes in the world. 🤎

Peppercorn’s Backstory: This little panther had a rough start. FWC biologists tracking her mother by GPS collar noticed she hadn’t returned to the den in two weeks, and when it was clear mom wasn’t coming back, they stepped in. At around 2 months old, Peppercorn should have weighed close to 10 pounds, but after being left alone for those two weeks, she arrived at Naples Zoo at just 3 pounds and covered in parasites. Now she’s thriving, weighing over 30 pounds and growing bigger every day! 🐾 by @naples_zoo

She never missed a meal! 🍽️ Here’s Peppercorn at three months old enjoying her breakfast. At this point in her journey she had been with our Zoo for one month and had more than doubled her weight!

Backstory: For those who may not know Peppercorn yet, this brave little panther didn’t have an easy start. Abandoned by her mother, she was left alone in the den for two weeks. FWC biologists watched closely, hoping mom would come back, but when she didn’t, they made the call to step in. At only 8 weeks old and under 3 pounds, Peppercorn was rescued and brought to Naples Zoo. by @naples_zoo

🌊 Something BIG is washing ashore at Naples Zoo!

Starting October 16, Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea will return to Naples Zoo, bringing larger-than-life sculptures made from plastic debris collected from beaches and waterways. ♻️

Throughout the Zoo, guests will encounter incredible sculptures depicting wildlife including a shark, penguin, frog, sturgeon, turtle, whale tail, salmon and seal pup. Each one helps tell the story of how plastic pollution impacts wildlife and the natural world.

The exhibit brings art and conservation together in a powerful way, transforming debris into colorful works of art that inspire conversations about how we can all help protect our oceans and wildlife.

👅 Ever wonder why snakes flick their tongues?

That forked tongue isn't for tasting! Snakes use it to collect tiny scent particles from the air and then bring them back to a special organ in the roof of their mouth called the Jacobson’s organ. This helps them “smell” their surroundings and figure out what’s nearby. by @naples_zoo
