The restaurant was fully booked, so we sat at the bar, quickly becoming hooked on an amber-hued drink I had never tried before. Sweet Sicilian Manhattan, you were just the golden-brown glow I wanted for the night.

“Please come right this way,” the restaurant owner said, waving to us from the dimly lit dining room, decorated with paintings from Naples, the kind that draw emotion out of you.

The Sicilian Manhattan remained good company as I devoured Cotoletta alla Milanese with saffron rice and a plate brimming with bright Bolognese pasta.

I think I’ve just found another dining spot for the books and a drink I’ll be soon wanting again. taken in Niagara Falls by @napoliniagarafalls
