What does it mean to tell stories through space?

Step into the Dome, reimagined each year by MA Narrative Environments students. This space presents graduating students' work through moving image, creative artefacts and pop-up activations.

From speculative environments to spatial narratives, the Dome reflects the course's approach to storytelling as a medium you can move through, question and experience.

MA Narrative Environments uses design, research and collaboration to shape future visions, systems interventions, intelligent experiences and creative installations. Students work across disciplines to develop environments that communicate new ideas in response to the social, technological and ecological questions shaping the world around us.

Inside the Dome with MA Narrative Environments.

Students Ioanna Lamprou @ioannalamprouart and Niki Tokunaga @__n.0925__ share more about the Dome, a reusable structure built by MA Narrative Environments students for this year’s #CSM26 Shows.

Reused each year with sustainability in mind, the Dome brings together film, moving objects, artefacts, tables and student work, creating a space where audiences can move through different forms of storytelling.

From speculative futures and spatial narratives to technology, art and collaborative making, the installation reflects the complexity, ambition and care behind the course.

Make sure to step inside the Dome when you visit CSM Shows and experience the work for yourself. by @narrativeenvironments

The AIA and RIBA have a long history of collaboration dating back to the founding of their institutes in 1857 and 1834 respectively and are delighted to present this year’s keynote lecture with Central Saint Martins @csm_news.

About Craig Dykers

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Craig Dykers is an architect, educator, and founding partner of the internationally acclaimed design practice Snøhetta.

Educated at the University of Texas at Austin, he co-founded the Oslo-based practice in 1989 and later helped establish its New York studio, contributing to the firm’s emergence as one of the world’s most innovative multidisciplinary design practices.

For more than three decades, Dykers has led projects that blur the boundaries between architecture, landscape, urbanism, and cultural infrastructure. His work is distinguished by a commitment to creating environments that strengthen the relationship between people, place, and the natural world while fostering social interaction and civic engagement. by @narrativeenvironments

Join Antikythera, @narrativeenvironments & CSM Digital Innovation, and @tankmagazine on Thursday, July 9 in London for a lecture and mixer launching Agentworld, a new research unit on the hybrid society of 8 billion human minds and a trillion non-human AI minds. What even is a “society”?

A keynote lecture: What is Agency?: Placebo Culture, Agency Theater, Agentic AI by @benjaminbratton will be followed by a post-lecture mixer at Spiritland to continue the conversation over food and drinks. The lecture inaugurates a new research brief on Agentworld and an OPEN CALL for papers/ projects to contribute to the Antikythera Journal for the Philosophy of Planetary Computation published with MIT Press this fall.

Does AGI portend a future in which humans are left to manage the illusion of control? As agentic AI runs the material world under the hood, our place may be as a specialized leisure class: “Monitoring the Situation” via placebo dashboards, staging politics as a lifestyle content genre. By cultivating “agency porn” we have decoupled the experience of making an impact from any actual causal effect, so that we can feel like the protagonists of a machine we no longer steer.

THE THIRD NARRATOR: ARCHETYPE FOR FUTURE MONUMENT
Projcet by Hikaro Sato
@itishikaru

The Third Narrator proposes a new archetype for monuments in places where memory is politically contested. Rather than centring a single human perspective, it positions nature as a ‘Third Narrator’ – a witness to history that exists beyond political divisions. Through a case study of the Sava River at Jasenovac, the project explores how environmental phenomena can make historical continuity visible, creating shared spaces for reflection, remembrance, and dialogue across community boundaries.

REDDATA
Project by Jingfei Wang + collaborators
@minnie_wangjingfei

REDDATA is an interactive narrative platform where participants act as clerks within a centralised menstrual bio-data system. Users assess anonymised menstrual records to determine their biomedical value and eligibility for collection. Set in a near-future world of continuous health tracking, the project examines how menstrual data and blood may become quantified, monetised, and tied to unequal access to healthcare.

WRITING ON THE WALL
Project by Ariana Aminian
@mrari

Writing on the Wall is an interactive installation inspired by acts of resistance from Iranian people against state propaganda and misrepresentation. Mechanical flowers conceal protest messages, mimicking how authorities cover dissenting grati. As viewers approach, the flowers close to reveal the hidden reality of Iranians‘ lived experience, disrupting the illusion of normalcy. Real protest audio deepens the contrast, highlighting the power of collective presence.

SENSING SWIMSUIT
Project by Niki Tokunaga (Pavey)
@__n.0925__ __

London’s waterways are deeply polluted by waterfront privatisation, yet idealised images of clean waterfront living obscure this condition. Sensing Swimsuit responds to this visual oxymoron through real-time water-quality data collected by citizen swimmers. The swimsuit protects swimmers from pollution while embedded sensors collect data as they move through the River Lea. Data feeds nearby property advertisements, transforming polished development imagery into responsive visualisations of reality.

RUMBL: KHAO YAI‘S UNDERSTAGE
Project by Patcharawadee Leehuasa
@pvtchvr

RUMBL is a spatial experience that translates the infrasonic communication of wild elephants into haptic vibrations felt through the soles of specially designed shoes. Set at the boundary between the Big Mountain Music Festival and elephant habitat of Khao Yai National Park, the project enables participants to sense the presence of nearby herds without seeing or hearing them. By making an unseen neighbour perceptible through the body, RUMBL explores new forms of interspecies awareness and coexistence in shared landscapes.

WHEN THE CLOUD MEETS THE MOON
Project by Tori Pearl-Dowler + collaborators
@tori_pd

Governments and corporations are racing to mine the Moon for helium-3, a rare material used in quantum computing’s cooling systems. When the Cloud Meets the Moon responds with Luna-Q, a procedural governance system that turns this future lunar supply chain into a site of negotiation. Its three instruments make extraction accountable, material value visible, and the computing power it enables answerable to public-interest use – so lunar resources serve public benefit, not just private technological control.
