🌟 IT'S PUBLICATION DAY! 🌟

ARRIVAL is out now, so you can grab a copy from your favourite local bookstore or order online!

'The novel deals in life’s hard knocks, in trauma and deracination, but in langauge that is sensual, languid, feline, snaking with double meaning and sly humour. Like an Sigrid Nunez novel, Arrival seems to be about everything, its canvas expanding and contracting, allowing the story’s particulars to echo far and wide.’
Marina Benjamin, author of Insomnia

Arrival is a book made up of fragments – fragments of love, motherhood, abuse and marriage – which form an intriguing and moving kaleidoscope narrative. A jagged, beautifully written novel which explores the shattering impact of abuse and how the past shapes the present.’
Sam Mills, author of The Fragments of My Father

‘A powerful tale about love, domestic violence, motherhood, escape, and arrival on many levels, written with sensuality and poetic force.’
Naja Marie-Aidt, author of When Death Takes Something From You Give It Back

The Spanish edition of Невидими / Four Minutes is coming out on the first day of autumn, 23rd September, with the wonderful @automaticaeditorial, in @Marco Vidal's translation.

Marco invested so much love and care in working on the translation of this book, and I cannot wait for Spanish readers to read it. We also spent time together in Brussels earlier this year, as part of @cela_europe's working week, which was invaluable.

I am so grateful to Alicia at Automatica for welcoming the novel into their catalogue, for taking the risk, as any independent publisher does when publishing literature in translation, especially from a so-called "small language" like Bulgarian, for her deep editorial process, and for all the considerations that have gone into publishing the book.

I also love this stunning book cover design. Isn't it a beauty?

Невидими / Four Minutes is also published in English (@openletterbooks ), German (@etaverlag) and Polish (@wydawnictwoezop). All other rights are available, so if you're interested, please get in touch with my agent at @sofialiteraryagency. by @nataliedelmar

Thank you, @lesprit_literary_review for inviting me as a featured writer in Issue Six, and publishing our conversation about my creative practice, my previous books and my new novel manuscript.

You can read the interview and an excerpt from my latest project - links in bio.

"The excerpt is from a fiction project I’ve just completed and I’m currently pitching to agents, with the working title Your Beautiful Life. I prefer not to talk much about any unpublished projects, because, naturally, they’re at a stage when things are still fluid and can change in the editing process. But, broadly speaking, I can say that it’s contemporary literary fiction which explores the ways we see and are being seen. [...]

The manuscript also aims to deconstruct the language of visibility and invisibility – both in the literal sense and in the societal context. What happens when people around you (including workplaces, schools, or institutions) refuse to accept you the way you are? How do the current socio-political narratives about disability and otherness reflect deeply lodged misconceptions about blindness and disability? I wanted to investigate the intersections of perception (and misconception), agency, and vulnerability. It’s an experimentation in both form and language, and it looks at how our interactions with others shape our own sense of self, and how these perceptions can construct but also deconstruct identity." by @nataliedelmar
