sisters in town + okinawa trip

congrats angie and stanford

thx to claude meetup co-organizers + venue supporters for pulling off the world's largest claude meetup

a slow month for work meant it was quite stressful one of the cons of doing freelance work is the instability its just not that sustainable

hosted a fireside chat with jennifer who has great energy always building community and doing things with optimism and fire I feel privileged to know cool ppl building the future

one thing I was proud of was having spent one year of dedicated writing + publishing on substack at least once a week bc its turned out to be a really good investment and sometimes its cringe sometimes no one reads them but there are lots of good side effects like self-expression finding your voice developing confidence thinking more clearly and its actually pretty fun too

🔮 March 2026

the first official Claude meetup hosted in Taiwan was the largest in the world across 80+ cities at ~250 attendees

the second Claude meetup then broke the record at ~1,000 attendees

truly amazing show out from Taiwan

it was overwhelming this month so busy not in a good way felt like things were getting out of control and wobbly what with balancing freelancing with meetups and parenting there’s always something that sacrifices if it’s not Lyor then it’s my health or my work but to me these are important for fulfillment and spirituality but you can't have it all by @nataliefenglin

The next Claude meetup is happening 9/26 during Mid-Autumn Festival, where the 3 Claude Ambassadors in Taiwan are co-organizing a chill outdoor BBQ meetup for everyone in the community! @debuguy.dev @kaochenlong

The Anthropic community team has been encouraging Claude Ambassadors around the world to host "touch grass" events, because we all get a little fatigued keeping up with all these AI announcements, and it's nice to remind ourselves of the natural beauty of the world and focus on building human relationships with each other.

This is a very casual, free-flowing event: arrive whenever you like and stay as short or as long as you want. Kids and dogs are welcome.

Please RSVP at the link below. We hope to accept as many people as possible since the whole thing will run for a total of 6 hours. We're still collecting sponsorship support, so if you know orgs or individuals interested in supporting, we're happy to chat and could get even more food for everyone!

🥟 February 2026

I feel like there is a business opportunity to support families during LNY (and offwork hours and holidays) because local nannies are also on break and 2 weeks without help during holiday season with lots of gatherings is a bit brutal but anyway I do feel lucky to spend time with many fam & friends by @nataliefenglin

🔥🐎 Jan 2026

when I do things that make me feel differently about life it makes me ponder and contemplate in thoughtful ways and it doesn't necessarily have to be productive

💞 dec 2025

it’s understandable when ppl post about their relationships on social media it’s almost always positive and loving, esp during anniversary posts, but this can make the reality of being in a long-term relationship feel unrealistic bc they are actually so hard sometimes and need constant work and there are moments when things get really bad and it’s like do we even try anymore, there were some amazing times but 2025 really was very challenging for us as a couple, Lyor's first year with us

Jack and I were obv struggling with newborn stage where Lyor wasn’t sleeping regularly and we didn’t have a nanny and we were both sleep-deprived and I felt unsupported during postpartum, we had a lot of arguments over the smallest things and by jan 2025 we had decided to separate and had told both our parents and arranged the co-parenting living situation, it seemed like a done deal

we started seeing a couples therapist around then and it helped a bit and simultaneously the sleep started getting better and I also decided to stop breastfeeding which also helped and tbh I think AI was also really helpful for us to talk thru things individually and tgt, we also made an effort to do lunch dates and also evening wine-at-home dates, and then when we got a nanny that helped a lot too

to me the reality is that many men in our current or previous generations esp in Asia are raised not to really talk about their feelings so it was hard to communicate with Jack about certain things that were important during that very challenging time after giving birth, but eventually by spring of 2025 things did feel slightly better so that was a good signal and since it was trending upwards, we continued to work on it and now a year and a half later things are way better

so like many things in life it was a matter of not giving up but there were so many moments of doubt and sometimes what’s best for you is not best for everyone else, so I get why ppl split up, don’t even know for sure if Jack and I will be tgt forever but we’ll keep trying

dec 2025 was 4 years of marriage and I’m glad we made it thru the year, it was super tough, ilysm @_jackan_ 🥹❤️ by @nataliefenglin

Last time Michelle @michellenovenda was the guest. This time she's holding the mic.

She sat down with Sophia @imsuyaya and Casey @seyoahn : two women who left home, took the unconventional road, and somehow both ended up calling Taiwan home.

"We thought we'd have it figured out by 30." Nobody does.

A story about unlearning what home taught you, and chasing the dream anyway.

hosting a music-themed Claude meetup on 7/25 come thru~

we'll open with 2 demos: one from Pawnshop DJ @andy__chiu and one from builder @jasmine.ow_life who created Sonicstride that makes music based on body movements

the rest of the time will be an open mixer to meet more ppl and we'll have a live DJ so it'll be like a lil dance party

shout out to @mateosavo for helping find a suitable music venue to align with the theme of this meetup and to @jw.cheng for the overall support

should be a fun one 💃

🎹 december 2025

this was my first year being a freelancer, definitely a lot of things that were great about it but it’s quite hard to context switch between teams, in order to make a decent salary I did need to take on a few clients simultaneously, compared to being busy when doing something full-time which at least seems to have more of a focus and direction, whereas with contractual roles it’s more short-term, one-time, and then having to switch between ideas, while the work was good a lot of personal things were sacrificed, v different from full-time work but not necessarily better or worse overall just depends on what your care about at the moment, def was worth trying for a year

I’m still v grateful for the opportunity to help host these Claude meetups in Taipei, I don’t want to take it for granted, I hope I can continue to create some fun meetups for the community 🙏🧡
