My beautiful momma, inside and out, I miss you more than you know. Nothing will ever be the same without you.

In the middle of the night, she passed surrounded by all of her people. I held her hand and rested my head on her as she took her final breath. I gave her a final kissing hand, which is something we’ve done since I was a little kid with separation anxiety from her, and we continued over my life. She would kiss the palm of my hand and I’d kiss hers. We loved it so much we got matching tattoos a couple years ago to symbolize that no matter how far away, our love for each other is always there.

To say my mom was the most selfless woman would be an understatement. She was the most genuine, kind person with the biggest heart and a huge smile that welcomed everyone. She rescued many animals and listened to people that had no one else to listen to. My mom made every single person she talked to feel so special. So many people will miss her.

My heart is shattered and feels empty now that she’s gone. I keep expecting to hear her walk through the door or call me to tell me a funny story. Our full house feels so empty.

We promise to keep your heart alive by living like you. If you know her, this could mean: inviting a single mom living in her car and her children over (that she met at the gas station) for a warm meal and a hot shower, building a milk carton crate with a homeless man, inviting someone for dinner because they told her they needed a friend, or befriending the ladies at Tom Thumb and bringing them gifts. Maybe you even save some turtles or any stray animal found on the street.

In her final days, she was nothing but kind.
I brought her flowers and a butterfly balloon to which she replied, “reminds me of my Nattie Kate.” Faryn asked how she could help and she said, “keep being sweet.” So we will continue to be sweet for her.

My favorite compliment has always been “you are so your mama’s daughter!” She said this to me just a couple weeks ago. I hope to continue that on and keep making my sweet mama proud. 🪽🦋✨💓
