6 Years of Jess

This was the year with everything in it. We got engaged, got to start our life, and supported each other through new projects, challenges, transitions, and adventures. You have shown through your work & friendships an unparalleled amount of support, empathy, care, and resolve that is endlessly inspiring to me. To know you is to be seen in a new light & never be truly feel alone. To love you is to always feel important - to show up, to be challenged, to grow into someone better. Being with you has meant that there’s always a safe place to land, an eye in the hurricane of difficult problems & projects & world news, and a sigh of relief after a tough day.

I’m floored thinking of everything we’ve been through & experienced and I’m so happy to keep building this life we made together.

You’re my favorite person, Cookbook 💕

“Project Songbird” is out now on PC/PS5/Xbox 🐦‍⬛! I did some sound design across this game - creatures, scenes, axe breaks - and my song “Locked” is included as a in-game collectible record! I connected with @conner_w_rush a few years ago as he was singlehandedly developing these eerie & beautiful games. I’ve seen firsthand how hard Conner & @fyre_games to bring this project to life - I’m so excited for everyone to finally play it!

Thank you to @imbashlow for making some great creature sounds as well as my ad hoc loop group: @balenciyanaa @abbycarey3 @staceyryanmusic by @nateflaks

Happy @imbashlow Day to all who celebrate!! Every year I’m blown away by the ways you make everything better. You’re an amazing friend, collaborator, charcuterie board maker, dog mom, and (now) fiancee - it’s incredible the way you show up for people and shine your light through all the dark that’s around us. You make quiet nights at home feel peaceful & special and you inspire everyone around you to be their truest self. You’re my favorite person & I hope you have a very happy birthday! by @nateflaks

That’s a wrap on my twenties 🎂 !

There is so much I’m grateful for in this last decade - moving to LA, songs written, films made, now-old friends met, getting engaged, adopting a dog, weddings, traveling, reality TV, playing shows, reconnecting, iZotope, MPSE, and growing a beard.

I’m genuinely so excited for my thirties - we’re just getting started! by @nateflaks

📦 “Sender” has just been announced to premiere at SXSW & I am so proud of everyone who worked on this film! While I provided additional sound design (& a couple days of on-set production sound), I’ve also had the immense privilege of having a front row seat as my brilliant friend @russell_goldman turned his short proof-of-concept film (which we also worked on together) into a nail-biting-pressure-cooker feature film with an iconic cast (@brittle, @rheaseehorn, @dastmalchian, JLC, et al)!

Thank you for bringing me along for nearly a decade of creative collaboration! And a big congratulations to all my friends who put their hearts into bringing this film to life! by @nateflaks

“ASMR MINUS ONE” (dir. by @luketuesday) is out now on YouTube!

This was some of the most fun & challenging sound editing I’ve done on a short - how do we do Godzilla while also making it ASMR? You’ll have to hear for yourself!

Big shoutout to @themaxberlin for the incredible Godzilla-esque score, @jilljgalbraith for brilliant acting (& near-perfectly sync’d ADR), and @jack_vveiss for ADR recording & additional editing! by @nateflaks
