Our debut film (financed and produced by) @fackrellbrothers and our @picture11studios Written and Directed by @anabellelmx Anabelle LeMieux /

‘No One Believes In Me”, will have its WORLD PREMIERE at the 79th Edinburgh International Film Festival @edfilmfest in Scotland next week!!! @indiewire @filmmakermag @mubi @directorsnotes @shortoftheweek @artcenterfilm @artcenteredu

Other than our @fackrellbrothers directing work, Matthew and I created and produced events such as the ECLIPSE FILM FESTIVAL (1999-2004) and the GUERILLA FILM COMPETITION (2000-2003), but last year when Matthew received a fiery email from our dear friend (fellow filmmaker) Anabelle LeMieux, and included the script for the short film, ‘NO ONE BELIEVES IN ME’ she’d written in three days.

Her passionate email about the current state of the film industry, along with her phenomenal script was so in-step with what myself and Matthew had been working on the past few years, that we immediately offered to produce and finance it. We set filming dates and did not waver, opting to shoot on super 16mm film. All under the banner of our new cinematic venture ‘PICTURE 11 STUDIOS’. Filming began while I was recovering from my second spinal fusion surgery, but Matthew’s FaceTime and texts kept me in the loop during the filming of ‘No One Believes In Me’ shot in Arcata California.

Anabelle and the rest of the NOBIM team helped inspire us Fackrell’s to create the ‘GUERRILLA FILM GRANT’ (a no-strings film grant meant to finance short films made by undiscovered talent and to help inspire creative momentum, industry wide).

The feature version of NO ONE BELIEVES IN ME was just finished by Anabelle; it is going to be incredible! We can’t wait to share what we’ve been planning.

ONLY HOURS LEFT!
Four years ago, we lost our brother, our mother taken by Alzheimer’s, I’ve undergone three spinal fusion surgeries, a stroke, a near-fatal ruptured brain aneurysm, a major cancer scare, a benign tumor surgically removed; Matthew has had extraordinary challenges in that time as well, so has everyone!

However, pushing forward and working to be better is so important.

The last 12 years we’ve directed and produced national commercials for the Department of Veterans Affairs. We gave everything into each production, to honor all Veterans we work with; and dedicate ourselves to do the very best work. The weight of 12 years directing ads for suicide prevention and emerged in it, talking to thousands of brave Veterans who are pillars of support, strength, as well as those who are suffering.

During those productions working day and night, 100’s and 100’s of hours to do our very best because we wanted the very best for Veterans, over those years each commercial became more personal, the weight of subject matter deeply resonated, some emotional breakdowns with that kind of weight on your shoulders.

After our brother Jackson’s death, each time we directed, the emotional weight became almost too heavy to bear. Spending 100’s of hours planning and developing and immersing into very dark but also inspiring places. We saw from Veterans how important it is to be seen and heard. It has shaken us to the core. We know how powerful cinema is, and there is so much it can help, after many years of developing we are pushing through to put our vision into motion.

We’ve fought tooth and nail, for over 25 years in this industry, we’ve found and have fought for this vision, and we’re not going to stop trying, not by darn sight!

We appreciate those who have helped share this auction to buy our childhood hometown theater, restore and renovate it, and name it after our late brother Jackson. To help our hometown, and help struggling filmmakers. And see Hitchcock’s Archive safe in the hands of a museum. All of which we’ve planned to dedicate the rest of our lives to.

WE HOPE YOU SEE THE WORTHY CAUSE, WE ARE STRIVING FOR. #film #share #hitchcock #save #history by @nathan_fackrell

It’s been a long journey since I began the process of making my short film, “THE MAXIIM”, during that time I’ve had three major spinal surgeries, vertebrae fusions, disk replacements, lumbar and cervical. A very painful pre-surgery, and post recovery.

For many years it’s been a seemingly endless endeavor; with major health complications and a recent health scare; I am so grateful to continue fighting upwards.

This is very hard to explain what life has been like, when everything becomes a seemingly endless cycle of pain; physically and mentally. like being trapped in a tiny prison only able to comprehend a few feet (sometimes inches) in front of you; reducing perception of life into only what is at arms length in front and around.

The last few years have felt like decades of sickness and pain that has been rolled up and binged into an insomniatic occurrence, not knowing when it will ever let up.

Fighting through a literal world of pain, and hovering despair like ‘The Nothing’ from The Never Ending Story; I have missed many life events of my friends and family, and I hope to make up for it. I am very thankful for the help and support from my family and friends over all the years this has been going.

Setting specific goals and dreams has been a huge part of recovery. These goals and dreams have helped to pick myself up when I fall down. Many goals of which my twin brother Matthew and I are working very hard towards.

I recently got the mental strength to finally finish my short film THE MAXIIM, which has never left my mind. A couple summers ago, I had self financed it, bought a one way plane ticket to Tokyo, Japan and commuted to stay there until I finished writing, producing, and directing it. After two months and the help of many (I look forward to naming) filming was wrapped, and things were moving until my second spinal surgery occurred.

It will be finished, and I’m excited to share it, and to showcase all the hard work and amazing talent the cast and crew put into making it!

As every filmmaker can attest; any help or support would be incredibly appreciated 🙏🏼

I’m fighting for a full recovery.

Looking through some of my old artwork. One of my favorites is this that I painted in 1990 while looking at a still frame of AKIRA, back when I was 13 years old. Using watercolor, and some acrylic paints.

Cut to: Many months earlier, at the local comic book shop, playing an animated movie called ‘AKIRA’, on their TV/VCR combo inside the store.

AKIRA had just been released on VHS in North America. @matthew_james_fackrell and myself, could not take our eyes off of that small tv screen, and the incredibly detailed artwork in motion. Both of us were completely awestruck, the animation was on a jaw dropping whole new level. And here was a set of astonished twins, eyes wide open, both their jaws agape, experiencing cinematic catharsis in real time.

The amused “comic book guy” told us it was an animated movie that came from Japan, of which he referred to as “Japanimation”, the word stuck with us.

We collected our jaws off the floor, pulled our money together, and purchased a brand new VHS release of AKIRA, English Dub. Long story short, we watched it about 20 times that same week, and many more since then. There are many experiences since we @fackrellbrothers were kids that have inspired us to become filmmakers. And AKIRA will always be a special part of that. @akira_frame

Between 1990 - 1991, I made a handful of AKIRA homage themed drawings and paintings. THIS ONE ☝🏼 I had to keep the VHS player paused on this exact frame, and watching the tape now it’s all fuzzy at that moment. Art is always inspiration.

Just returned home from the hospital, had my third spinal surgery, in as many years. This time it was for the cervical portion of my spine.

It’s been an immense challenge for a really long while now.. Causing bouts of illness that seemed to never let up. I’ve been off the map for a long time, but I’m finding my way back into the map, and hope to visit much more.

As the old saying goes: “Third Times The Charm”, and I’m feeling pretty good about this one. Miss ya’ll!! by @nathan_fackrell

We @fackrellbrothers are currently in post production finishing up 6 (humanitarian/awareness) commercial campaigns, that we were very honored to direct.

Fackrell Brothers has such an amazing team that we’re very thankful for, along with the wonderful cast and crew members we’ve worked with!

4 of the commercials were shot back to back in a five day period, it was a challenge but very rewarding .

The man behind the camera on the 4 spots was the astounding Director of Photography, Robert Yeoman, ASC. @robertyeomanasc

It was such a pleasure working with Bob Yeoman, and everyone on the crew, and in the cast. They all went above and beyond, it was amazing to see and experience.

We are extremely thankful to all who were involved.

Two of the other campaigns were shot earlier by the always wonderful DP, Megan Stacy. @kmegstacey - again back to back shoots, and she and the cast and crew were amazing. These two commercials are about to be released. Keep an eye out.

Post production has been intense. But overall, everything is coming together wonderfully.

The sixth commercial was shot all on greenscreen and is undergoing a vfx overhaul. No frames to show as of yet. And seeing Bob Yeoman work his magic operating the camera techno crane = 🎥✨

We’re really looking forward to sharing the very campaign’s that each have very important messages, we sincerely hope will inspire all those who watch.

Images from spending time on the set of “Thelma and Louise” back in 1990.

This was out second opportunity to watch feature film made in the same small town of Thomson, Utah. Where our grand and grandpa Pini lived.Just a block away.

The first picture is a candid shot of Geena Davis @geenadavisorg when I surprised her (it was dark all around) with a surprised and playful look in her face.“look here!,” she let out a genuine surprised laugh with a warm smile. In between. set-ups, she’d walk over to us from time to time and just chat with us. I remember how talk she was and at 13 years old, that didn’t stop me@from having a little crush on her.

What a great experience though. It left an indelible and incredibly inspirational mark on my brother and I’s long journey to become a filmmakers.

There was also a super nice (ai think now she was. A 1st AD or a producer. But she took us all on an entire tour of the film set, introducing us to the crew members and actors, including Susan Sarandon.

Then we were introduced to a man with a white long sleeve shirt, sitting on a small circular stool seat looking chair that was hooked into what looked liked a small tank with a camera on top.

I remember our guide introducing us to this English man saying, “This is is our director Ridley,” and immediately with a kind response looking at us with happy looking eyes he said very kindly something to the nature of: “Very nice to meet you kids.” He was very respectful and didn’t just brush us aside, he asked genuinely and thoughtful questions. He asked if we had seen The Fly, or Beetlejuice, of course we’d seen Beetlejuice, Geena Davis was so good in it.

There’s just too much to tell, my twin brother Matthew Instagram has more interesting info than I do.

Lastly, so many crew members could not stop talking this new actor and this was his first big movie. Just his name melt the heart of the person speaking, one said he was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. We were like “who?? so what” this man name?…Brad Pitt.

Shot on location in Tokyo, Japan!

Here’s the trailer for my short film THE MAXIIM. Please check it out and if inclined share it with anyone you want

It’s been a slow process with post production. I’ve had a severe spinal injury for almost two years. And since returning from Tokyo last fall, the injury worsened. I then had a very serious ALIF spinal surgery that since has taken a very long time to recover from. But I am finally starting to recover, and my health has been getting much better.

It was such a struggle before going to Japan that I almost decided to cancel. But I knew if I did, the film wouldn’t get made and I wanted to challenge myself as a director and also challenge myself to have a task to help me fight through the constant and consistent pain. When I arrived in Tokyo I found local Japanese filmmaker groups and slowly but surely was able to secure my crew, with the help of my co-producer Kyoji Ohno (Ohno-San) who is also a brilliant film composer.

We got to work immediately, which all in all turned out to be the most challenging film shoot I have ever experienced, but one of the most rewarding and inspiring I’ve ever experienced.

I’ll spare the details. I’ll share if anyone would like to know. But I literally couldn’t have made this film without the help of my friends in Japan, as well as my American friends and family, Japanese film crew, super rad friend and DP @chrissaul and cast! @

Such good people who went above and beyond to help me with o not only get the film made, but also helped me with my health challenges.

As of now the film is in Post Production, but a curveball hit when all my personal funding went to paying to shoot the film in Japan, kind of expensive I tell ya. Thanks to my mom and dad who saved me by paying for my plane ticket home, so I didn’t have to stowaway on a cargo ship back to America 🙏🏼

I’ll most likely try out GoFundMe soon, but if anyone wants to be an executive producer, let me know and come hop aboard for the journey.

Thank you!
