Hey everyone 👋🏽 before we get started here, I thought it’s only right to introduce myself just to let you guys know a bit about me - so here we go. 🚀

My name is Nathan John, I’m a Public Speaker, Data and Application Security Engineer at one of the biggest tech companies in the world, a child of God and also go by @thetechdrummer (tech has multiple meanings..) check out my other instagram page for more on that! 🥁

Looking at where I am now, some may be impressed, but it’s been a long journey getting here and I’ve still got a ways to go! 📈

Growing up in South East London in a community where financial struggle was common, I had one thing on my mind from very young: how to make money quickly. 💰

The peer pressure and allure of “fast money” threatened to steer my life onto a complete different path. Despite ignoring the constant temptations and comparisons to those around me who’d chosen that lifestyle - I struggled to find my own direction. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Life was confusing for a while and after a lot of searching and trial and error I found the things that I love and discovered a few methods to help me find my direction along the way.

I now through public speaking help students and early professionals who like I once was, feel lost to teach them these same methods, get them thinking about what they really want out of life and realise the options they have. 🗺️

Becoming a Public Speaking Coach was NOT on my bucket list 😭

I’ve been reflecting on how rarely I share what I actually do on here, and I think it’s time to change that 😅

I was speaking to one of my recent clients, Jasmine, and she summed up her biggest takeaway from our sessions perfectly:

👉 Her value doesn’t come from knowing all the answers. It comes from being grounded in who she is and learning how to serve her audience well.

The world teaches us to seek validation from everyone around us and use that to measure how valuable we are.

But in reality, your value is based on what you place value in - which in turn shapes your character.

So blessed I get to do this!

Better late than never 😅

Had a great time speaking at the @sureserveenergyservicesuk Apprentice Day on the Power of Perseverance ⚙️

This chapter has been a testament of how doors will just begin to open when you walk in obedience. God is great.

A common thread I've picked up on is that many communities are built on past mistakes, struggles, and challenging experiences.

It's someone taking the initiative to create a space and support network that they wished they had earlier.

@speakerzspace is an example of this, where Nathan has created the first Gen Z public speaking community.

Along with his co-founders, Nathan recognised the lack of long-term support for public speaking that is accessible to young people.

I was curious to learn why he started and how Speakerz Space is an extension of himself.

❄️ With winter fast approaching, there’s no better time for a summer recap!

This summer has been nothing short of transformative. I’ve seen firsthand the favour that comes when you’re walking in purpose.

Some highlights:
 ✨ Hosted a stand at the O2 with @youngprouk  ✨ Delivered a programme with @speakerzspace at Sacred Heart Language College ✨ Took a hike in the Lake District ⛰️ ✨ Travelled to Greece w the family ✨ Wrapped up leading the first @speakerzspace programme

Safe to say - a lot of good happened :)

But it wasn’t all sunshine and blue skies ☔️…

* Got drenched multiple times on that hike (note to self: joggers are NOT a good idea in the rain)
* Caught the worst flu of my life (actually tonsillitis in disguise)
* Printing disasters at the O2 stand
* Doubted myself more times than I’d like to admit

Here’s what hit me looking back:
The reason I pushed through was because of something simple.
 Not talent. Not luck. But Mindset. (and God ofc)

Because mindset drives everything else: Think → Feel → Act → Results Loop

It’s funny because that’s also the first step to becoming a truly confident communicator.

This summer stretched me. It tested me. But it also reminded me: Don’t stop when it gets hard. That would be an insult to the one who blessed us with these gifts - and to everyone who sacrificed for me to be here.

From being rejected at the first stage to being chosen as a Youth Judge the next year 🙏🏽🏆
