A few weeks back
But I couldn’t bring myself
To kill it.

So I thought it
You, back — a mundane
Angel checking in on me.

Sometimes I tell myself:
Maybe you’ve just gone to the shop,
But the shop is very far away.

Or you’re stuck in traffic
And the line stretches back
Beyond the time I have left."

"Grateful"

I think… you’re hurting. For all the
obvious reasons. The problem is,
I can’t say I’m going to do much
to help. Some things, here and there;
quiet kindness in stolen moments.
But that’s about it. Sometimes
even that feels like a stretch.
I’m a selfish person. I like it that way,
which I suppose is the point.

I wanted to say something grateful
but now I've forgotten what it was.
It was a really good example too!
If I could write the way I felt
you’d see it’s not a case of
A hard-headed heart,
just a brain with its hands full.
Maybe I’ll just say: ‘I know’
and leave it at that.
I know. Even if I act like I don’t.
