Before it became a global film starring @WillSmith, The Pursuit of HappYness was a real story of resilience, accountability and belief.

From sleeping in a train station bathroom to building a successful career on Wall Street, Chris Gardner (@ceoofhappyness) turned adversity into purpose and went on to inspire millions around the world 🌍

The real life inspiration behind The Pursuit of Happyness, is now in the UAE until Friday 9th January, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the film.

Chris is a New York Times bestselling author, film producer and four decade Wall Street professional who began his career at Bear Stearns before founding his own successful brokerage firm. His journey continues to resonate with leaders, teams and communities across the globe.

While in the UAE, Chris is open to a limited number of engagements, which may include:

🎤 A keynote for senior leadership on resilience, decision making and purpose driven success

🧠 A workshop for employees focused on ambition, unlocking potential and sustaining performance

🔥 A fireside conversation or interview reflecting on legacy, leadership and life lessons

🍽️ An intimate lunch or dinner with distinguished guests and senior stakeholders

🚀 A session for youth and entrepreneurship communities centred on opportunity and belief

📚 A private and intimate book signing

Watching Chris’s story on screen almost 20 years ago was powerful. Meeting him for the first time in 2019 was inspiring, and now contributing to the shaping of his visit has been a privilege. His message played a meaningful role in my own journey of starting small, dreaming big and moving bold.

I look forward to others having the opportunity to hear Chris’s story first hand and being given the permission to dream and to be world class.

If you or your organisation would like to explore hosting Chris during his time in the UAE, please reach out.

2024 did not go as planned for me!

I had ambitious goals and a clear plan.

I was committed and consistent with my actions.

I even made sacrifices and lifestyle adjustments.

The results were even better than I expected, which I am extremely grateful for 🙏🏾

This video includes some of the highlights.

2025 will be even better as I build on a solid foundation.

I have just shared my achievement plan template, which should help anyone that wants to make this year a success!

Grateful to have met: @KidInk @Konan @direalShaggy @Huda @Patrice.Evra @therealMaryJBlige @ChrisGayle333 @iamMSilvestre @officialDWightyorke19

I was extremely proud to have spoken at the closing ceremony of the 12th Barclays Beyond Programme on Wednesday 28th June 2023 at One Churchill Place in London.

The Beyond Programme is a mentoring scheme that I founded, which raises aspirations and career prospects of young people. For 12 years, students local to Barclays Headquarters in Canary Wharf benefit from one-to-one mentoring sessions with their employees and develop new skills from training workshops. They also have the opportunity to obtain work experience.

“Let’s talk, King to King🤴🏾”

For those new to this page, let me introduce myself:

I am an Executive Director with 24 years of experience across global Tier 1 banks and market leading institutions in London, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, specialising in Global Transaction Banking: Cash Management, Trade Finance, Liquidity, FX and Structured Solutions.

Today, I lead a team within the largest bank in the Middle East.

I have built my career advising CFOs and Treasurers, leading high performing teams, and delivering sustainable growth across complex corporate and institutional clients in the UK, Middle East and Africa.

Alongside banking, I have always believed in the importance of community, mentoring and using my platform to make an impact beyond the workplace.

Some moments I am particularly proud of include meeting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and receiving the Barclays Citizenship Award for my work in the community.

Honoured to be:

• A Member of the Institute of Directors

• A Member of the Dean’s Advisory Group at Oxford Brookes Business School

• A regular public speaker across the UK, Europe and Middle East

• Founder of Youth Enlightenment, a social enterprise committed to providing inspiration and empowerment to young people.

• Founder of the Beyond Programme mentoring initiative at Barclays, supporting young people for over 13 years

• Interviewed over 150 times on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News and other platforms

• Host and creator of On.Point, a chat show featuring inspiring conversations with changemakers

• Working with Chris Gardner, whose remarkable life inspired the Will Smith film The Pursuit of Happyness, on projects focused on impact, inspiration and legacy

Beyond all of that, I am a proud father who loves his family deeply. Very deeply ❤️❤️

My Mum went through a lot while raising me, and I will never forget the sacrifices she made 🥺🥰

My life is far from perfect, but I am far from finished.

The journey has been wild. I am grateful for the highs, the lows and the lessons, and I will continue working on becoming the best version of myself.

Stick with me and enjoy the view 😉✨

Never meet your heroes!

Unless they are as genuine, generous and grounded as Chris Gardner @ceoofhappyness 🙌🏾

Chris is the Wall Street veteran, entrepreneur, author and film producer whose extraordinary life story inspired The Pursuit of Happyness, brought to the screen by Will Smith.

More recently, Chris was ranked No. 67 on @Forbes’ 250 Greatest Self-Made Americans list, recognising some of the most successful self-made Americans.

I had the privilege of spending time with Chris during his last visit to the UAE.

We attended a CEO retreat in Fujairah, spoke to students at New York University Abu Dhabi, and met countless executives, leaders, entrepreneurs, young people, and people like me who have read his books or watched Will Smith bring his story to life.

My time with him was insightful, inspirational and ultimately a masterclass in how to be when you have reached the heights of success.

I will be working with Chris as he continues to give us all permission to dream, and in some cases, to dream bigger.

To pursue our purpose. To believe in what is possible. And to be world-class in whatever we decide to do.

The best is yet to come ✨🚀

My first time on TV was back in February 2007 on the BBC, the start of over 150 interviews across @BBC, @ITV, @Channel4, @SkyNews and more 📺

This is what led me to start On.Point, a talk show I present that inspires and entertains! 🎬 It dives into the minds and accomplishments of exceptional individuals and showcases incredible talent.

Great meeting the talented @Lamorne Morris 🎬🎥

Like many, I first knew Lamorne as Winston in @officialNewGirl 📺. But seeing his evolution through roles such as @Fargo 🎭 and @SpiderNoirprime🕷️ has been a reminder of what happens when talent meets hard work and consistency.

Congratulations on the success of Spider-Noir, and wishing you even greater success in the years ahead. A pleasure crossing paths with you! Let’s goooo 🙌🏾🚀

Yes, a recruiter once told me I would never work for a top-tier bank 😅

I went on to join Barclays, was mentored by its Chairman, earned promotions, and that journey ultimately led me to Dubai, where I have since worked for ADCB and FAB, the UAE’s largest bank.

The lesson? Never let someone else’s opinion define your future. Your dreams, goals, and potential belong to you, not to the people who doubt you.

When people write me off, I do not argue. I let my actions do the talking.

If someone has laughed at your ambitions or told you your goals are too big, keep believing, keep pushing, and keep going. What seems impossible today can become your reality tomorrow.

You’ve got this! 🚀

Dubai → London → Lake Como → London → Dubai ✈️

Even if it’s last minute, book that flight, turn on your out of office, and take that well-earned break.

Traveling has a way of recharging the soul and reshaping perspective. You won’t regret it!
