🇯🇵 Teruaki Sato is officially on the MLB radar 👀

The Japanese star has been posted by the Hanshin Tigers and is expected to draw plenty of interest, with the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers and Phillies among the teams linked to him.

The Nationals are also on the radar as a potential landing spot 👀🔴⚪️

Sato would bring serious power and versatility to an MLB lineup, and Washington could be an intriguing fit.

Could the Nats make a run at Sato this offseason?

Random MLB Spotlight #1051: René Rivera

I can't think of a better player to showcase first in this catcher-themed week. A 2nd round draft pick who made his MLB debut at age 21, René Rivera's perseverance rewarded him with 13 seasons for 10 different teams, serving usually as a backup or a personal catcher to pitchers like Andrew Cashner, Chris Archer, and Noah Syndergaard. "Moncho" had some pop, too, hitting 11 home runs in 2014 for the Padres and 10 in 2017 between the Mets and Cubs. He currently manages the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps.

Played for SEA (2004-06), MIN (2011), SD (2013-14), TB (2015), NYM (2016-17, 2019-20), CHC (2017), LAA (2018), ATL (2018), CLE (2021), WSN (2021)

Games Played: 542
Hits: 330
Home Runs: 43
Runs Batted In: 176
Stolen Bases: 1
AVG/OBP/SLG: .221/.273/.354
bWAR: 2.2

The Nationals’ pitching pipeline is starting to look VERY interesting. 👀

For the past few years, Travis Sykora and Jarlin Susana have been the two names at the top of the Nats’ pitching prospect pool. But after an aggressive 2026 season adding young arms, Washington now has even more pitching prospects who could be on the doorstep of the majors.

Jack Cebert (#14) and Ben Grable (#20) both came over from the Yankees in the Luis García Jr. trade and made their way from High-A to Triple-A Rochester in 2026.

Cebert, a 2025 15th-round pick out of Texas Tech, posted a 4.03 ERA with a 10.0 K/9 across 109.1 innings. He also finished the season with Rochester and pitched two scoreless innings in the Triple-A National Championship Series.

Grable, a 2025 11th-round pick out of Indiana, was even more dominant statistically. He posted a 3.04 ERA and 13.6 K/9 across 48 appearances, while reaching Triple-A in his first professional season. His fastball also received a HUGE 70 grade from MLB Pipeline. 🔥

Then there’s Josh Hartle (#30), a left-hander who joined Washington in the Foster Griffin trade. Hartle spent the entire season at Double-A Harrisburg, going 5-5 with a 3.45 ERA, 8.4 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 across 122.2 innings.

Hartle also has a connection to the organization — he was teammates with Seaver King at Wake Forest.

Add them to Sykora and Susana, and the Nationals suddenly have a LOT of young pitching to be excited about.

Which of these three are you most excited to watch in 2027? ⬇️

2027 is going to be big for Dylan Crews.

Since being selected 2nd overall in 2023, Crews hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations that came with his draft status.

After a solid 2024 minor league season, he made his MLB debut but struggled, hitting .218 with a .641 OPS. In 2025, he hit .208 with a .632 OPS in 85 games.

2026 showed some improvement, but he still finished with just a .663 OPS in the majors.

The talent is still there. The speed is still there. The defense is still there.

But heading into 2027, Crews needs to take that next step offensively and start looking like the franchise cornerstone many expected him to become.

Do you still believe Dylan Crews can become a star in Washington? 👀
