Thank you Dr. Ivan Manzanilla for working with and sharing your music with us this week!

We had a busy two days with Dr. Manzanilla! He taught lessons, worked with students in percussion ensemble, gave a very informative masterclass on Mexican composers and their music, and performed a fantastic recital of Mexican composers. Congrats to @nau_percussion senior percussion performance major @elliss.png for performing at the 6th Annual Coltrane Equinox Concert hosted by @interferenceseries and organized by Rob Wallace at the Beaver Street Theater! The band sounded great!✨

The Coltrane Equinox Concert honors the legacy of both John and Alice Coltrane- this year’s concert (the Centennial Year of John Coltrane’s birth) highlighted John Coltrane’s varied stylistic influences from bebop to free jazz and beyond. by @nau_percussion

Thank you Dr. Brett Reed for an excellent master class yesterday on music production! It was inspiring to hear about his background in percussion, recording, & producing, and to think about how we can take what we know as musicians/percussionists to cultivate our own sound.

Members of the studio were able to check out Dr. Reed’s band @union32quintet - they performed a fantastic concert at @orpheumflag last night! by @nau_percussion
