(02082025) “meet the artist”

i couldn’t decide on the contents for my lists of “likes and dislikes,” so i completely omitted them LOL. i haven’t made one of these in nearly 10 years! so im happy to be sharing a new one. ^_^ also, this doubles as my response to @sketches.of.shay January ‘25 Sketchbook Club prompt! highly recommend that you guys check out her other prompts. ☆彡 by @nauseousdog

(05012024) the fourth installment of my pixel stag beetle studies. this one might be my favorite so far, and i felt satisfied with stopping at this level of detail. really enjoyed the coloring process! feels sweet and airy.

it’s been several months since the last study, and a couple of months since i last posted here. hoping that the summertime will bring some renewed motivation my way. ★彡

“JUST LIKE OLD TIMES” (2023) a set of linocut prints on heavyweight printmaking paper. stained with espresso ground coffee. burned with a stick of incense. accompanying pieces for the partnered books, “SHORTCAKE” and “BUCKLE.”

the second slide of this post features a larger paper, where both designs have been printed together. it would be fair to say that the “selective burning” got a bit out of my hands with this one. so, i would like to apply some patchwork to that piece, using the same fabric that i applied on their respective books. unexpected circumstances - i guess the print wanted to share a story for itself.

(02252024) pixel portrait of @sketches.of.shay , the orange of my eye

i mustered the courage to draw my beloved - a courage that i’d like to keep and to nourish. i’ve doodled and sketched Shannon only a couple of times, and the pieces that i give to her are usually in the form of writing or nonrepresentational art. i am proud of those pieces, but i would still like to broaden my horizon. so, i’m considering this piece as a step forward in exercising my ability to capture likeness, and as practice for the portraits that i am yet to make. here’s to many more orange drawings in my future. 🍰🐈

some other artworks should be imminent, as i’m not traveling as much in March, and i have a couple of pieces that i want to get done sooner rather than later. some of them involve traditional painting, so im hoping to encounter some learning curves throughout working on them.

cheers! ★彡
