When I teach my secondary methods course each fall, I talk about my own personal experiences teaching high school. One person that is a hero teacher to me is Simona Herring. She is a master teacher and I talk about how she was able to reach even those students that other teachers gave up on…she made them feel loved and seen. It’s always a portion of my discussion about how you reach students that struggle. My favorite story is about a student who was getting in trouble for spray painting, so she had him do a mural in her room. It stayed there for years, and he later became a graphic artist. Simona, you are still helping pay it forward in my methods class every fall!! ❤️❤️ #teachingmatters🍎 taken in Starkville, Mississippi by @nbc_conducts
