Happy birthday, Rata!!! ❤️

There are some people in life who are not just family. They are home. They are comfort. They are safety. They are the softest part of your heart walking around outside your body.

For me, that person is you.

You are my life, my lifeline, my forever best friend, my heart, and honestly, the best gift Omma and Pitashree ever gave me. I don’t think they fully understood what they were giving me when they gave me you — because they didn’t just give me a sister, they gave me my person. My baby. My Rata. 🥹❤️

And yes, I don’t care if you are 29 or 99. To me, you will always be my little baby. The cutest, most adorable, most precious baby in the universe. I will always want to hold you, pamper you, protect you, comb your hair, feed you, scold you, spoil you, and take care of you like you are still tiny enough to fit into my arms.

In my eyes, there never was, and there never can be, anything more beautiful than you. Of course, there is always a tough competition between you and Omma, but alas, I am slightly biased towards you. 🙈❤️

I feel so lucky that I have you. So lucky that somewhere in this big, confusing, difficult world, you exist. Even when you are far away, just knowing that you are there makes my world feel safer, softer, and more complete.

I miss you more than I can explain. I miss your face, your voice, your humour, your crazy, your drama, your warmth, your everything. And I am so going to come to you, spend time with you, hug you properly, pamper you endlessly, and take care of you because you are mah baby, and that is simply my life’s permanent duty. 🥰

You are my heart’s most tender place, Rata. My safest friendship. My forever teammate. My childhood, my adulthood, my buddy, my joy, my weakness, my strength.

Dear Omma and Pitashree,

Having been married for a couple of years myself, I’ve realised that marriage is not always easy. It needs effort, patience, understanding, forgiveness, and the choice to show up for each other every single day.

And this is something I’ve learned by watching you both.

You two are so different from each other, and yet, through all the good days and difficult days, I have seen you stand beside each other, choose each other, and build a life together with love, care, and commitment.

I’ve also understood that love and marriage don’t just happen automatically. They are choices we make every day — to care, to forgive, to appreciate, to support, and to stay.

So today, I just want to say that I am extremely proud of you both. Proud of the way you have loved each other for so many years, and proud of the way you raised us while managing jobs, home, responsibilities, and life with so much strength.

Now that I see the world a little more closely, my respect for you only keeps growing.

Please know that you both are the centre of my universe, the nucleus of my atom, and the mitochondria of my cell. You are my safehouse, and I promise I will also try my best to be yours whenever you need me.

I love you, admire you, and respect you more than words can ever say.

Aji sunte hain,

Congratulations on the completion of another semester! Ab har 6 mahine mein humari anniversary a jati hai toh ab hum kya hi karein? 😁😂🥰

I want to tell you that I'm so proud of you for so many things and every time you be you and you do things like helping out an old gentleman with his boxes, or making a little girl smile, or ensuring that a woman feels safe in your presence, or when my mother gets guardian vibes from you, when you're getting all talkative with the people of my town, when you try to say "kublei" in Khasi after making any purchase, or when you get up to offer your seat to a lady in need of that seat, you make me fall in love with you all over again.

Sometimes you challenge me, like for example, I like doing things a certain way. I take my time, I like to plan things, I don't take risks, I like to be on the safer side, I'm the opposite of adventurous, and I stay as far as possible from spontaneity. You love messy, your sweet spot is in the eye of the tornado, you're all "go with the flow" and let's see what happens. You're adventurous, daring, and you have this strong feeling that no matter what at the end everything is going to be okay. But you've been tugging at my comfort zone for such a long time, I've realised while I will always prefer doing things my way, I do occasionally like abandoning control, and putting all my eggs in your basket. I trust you.

It's been a wonderful journey so far and I know, that with you by my side, no matter what happens, "hum dekh lenge". On good days we'll express how much we love each other, we'll say sweet things to each other, we'll have fun and savour the moments as they pass. On not so good days, we'll hold each other's hand, hug each other tighter, watch a nice film before going to bed, go out for a drive, have an ice-cream and tell each other it's going to be fine. This too shall pass.

You surprise me every day, Partner, and I love to know more sides of you. Looking forward to knowing more of you.

I'm so proud of your kindness, your intelligence, your respect towards others, nature, your resourcefulness and everything that you are.

Shillong — a place I know I’ll keep coming back to, again and again. Not only for its misty hills and quiet beauty, but for the way my wife turns into the happiest little kid here. Happiest birthday to the sweetest, cutest, loveliest, nicest, kindest and the most caring and adorable Ommaaaaaa!!!! 😘😘😘😘🤗🤗🤗😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Allow me to tell you, oh adorable one, how cuter and prettier you're becoming by each passing year. I keep wanting to hold you and hug you and sit beside you and I just want to be near you all the time.

I remember, inspired by Farida Jalal in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, you approached me one day with, "Jab beti badi ho jati hai na, toh ma, ma nahin rehti, saheli ban jati hai". I couldn't help but smile and looking back at that episode I don't wonder why I am so filmy. This instance particularly comes to mind.

You are my Mom, my friend, my adopted kid, my little packet of happiness, my safety net and wall of security. The more life makes me stay away from you, the more I realise your importance in my life, how lucky I am to have you and how incredibly happy and at peace I feel when I am around you. I feel so special when you buzz around me like a cute, little bumble bee. I just want to hug you, hold you, care for you, pamper you and love you as much as I can.

Take care of yourself, Ommaaa! Control your sugar intake, eat healthy, lots of calcium, magnesium, iron and walk A LOT. I need you to be healthy to be able to enjoy life with me and @the_little_bhowmik and @nitaipada.bhowmik and @sandesh_15 and @parthpanchal47 holding our hands.

I want you to live life to the fullest and discover the wonderful and beautiful things life has to offer. I want you to lean how to drive, to travel solo, to be independent and to experience different things.

I love you a lot, Ommaaa and you're really special, you know that? I know you know. 🤗❤️
