"When you teach young minds, You never get old"

Hailing from Meghalaya, the act of teaching always intrigiued me. And my father advocating the above statement, contributed to transforming this mere interest into a love for teaching. However, teaching as a profession did not simply just happen to me, it was a concious decision. When I foraged around in search of a profression that would feel like a respite from lal the other things happening in my life, the answer was always teaching. Glad I took this decision, as it has been the most gratifying thing in my life. Knowing that i have the ability to positively impact even a single child, leaves me brimming with contentment. The ability to be there as a guiding force for young people navigating through life is astounding. My trodding over the path of mass communication has not been so straightforward and uninvolved. The journey from the picturesque meghalaya to becoming a teacher of mass communication in the cosmopolitan Ahmedabad, can make up for a rather interesting story. Growing up, the cinema and music that i was exposed to was in totality influenced by my parents and the content they consumed and thus encompassing the old bollywood charm.. Meghalaya did not have a proper theatre wher we could visit and hence it was as late as in 2014 when i first saw a movie in a theatre. Our parents followed the ritual of discussing the content that we consumed and generously asked and considered our opinions on the same thus that aided me in developing an analytical point of view towards the content. Always havng had a keen interest in cocurriculars, I felt out of place in the world of science. Though according to the deal I hatched with my father, I studied science diligently for the +1 and +2 years, granting me the freedom to choose my major freely after that. The world of mass communication was not a familiar one and neither did I feel complelety fitting in the puzzle of that world, however it intrigued me, pinched my imagination and now feels like a safe space.

By the time we reached Shillong and freshened up, we were famished. And so our lovely host @cathydkhar suggested we should visit the By the Way Cafe which was on our way to Laitlum. Mr Johnson Manih @johnson_manih , graciously drove us there so we could indulge to our hearts' content.

The first thing you'd notice about BTW is it's interior and the different corners it has. It has this little stage where you could perform something, a little corner for reading perhaps. It's got these different quirky quotes and pictures. The view of Shillong from its balcony (if I may say so, it's huge actually) is breathtaking. There are photo corners where you may take all the pictures you want, sit and relax, hang out, dive deep into conversations or just soak in the vibe.

We ordered our usuals - some noodles, some fried rice, some chilli gravy and the like. It was deeply satisfying.

Thank you Catherine, for suggesting us this place. It's really, very amazing!
