Not every disability is visible. For people with autism, intellectual disabilities, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and other non-apparent disabilities, interactions with police and first responders can sometimes become confusing, stressful, or unsafe.

Eric’s ID Amendment Act of 2026 can help change that. This bill gives DC residents the choice to identify a non-apparent disability with a butterfly on their ID—helping promote understanding, safer interactions, and greater inclusion.

The bill is being marked up today, and we need the DC Council to move it forward.

🦋 The law has already been enacted in Maryland. NCBWDC urges the @councilofdc to pass Eric’s ID Amendment Act and bring this initiative to DC! taken in The Council of the District of Columbia by @ncbwdc

Sixty three years ago, civil rights leaders led the first March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Today, NCBWDC members carried that mission forward, advocating for democracy, economic empowerment, and equal opportunity for all. The work remains unfinished — and our chapter members have our sleeves rolled up ready to jump in. ✊🏽✊🏼✊🏾✊🏿✊🏻

We’re Taking a Stand for Safer Workplaces — And We Need Your Voice

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Metropolitan Washington DC Chapter supports the National Commission to Combat Workplace Sexual Harassment Act (H.R. 9198) introduced by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Workplace sexual harassment is not just a policy issue—it’s about economic justice, dignity, and equity. For too many Black women, these experiences impact careers, mental health, leadership opportunities, and long-term financial security.

But policy alone isn’t enough. Change happens when voices are heard.

💬 What changes do you want to see in your workplace?

💬 How can organizations better support and protect employees?

Please share your perspective in the comments! Every voice helps move the conversation forward and reinforces why policies like H.R. 9198 matter.

Let’s move beyond awareness and into action—together.
