Instagram has not been the right place to share work for a long time now. However I wanted to try to share some pictures from my Japan trip to see if people are seeing this feed anymore? I refuse to slavishly post on this platform especially when a machine decides who to show pictures to and then that experience evaporates from their consciousness two seconds later as they swipe to a cat riding a skateboard . Actually, that cat riding a skateboard does sound good. I take it all back. by @neatism

Wilma lives with her two cats, surrounded by bountiful fruit trees she planted forty five years ago. She stuffed a few grapefruits into my arms. They were improbably large, and no doubt delicious. I was astounded she could nurture these trees so effectively in such a desolate location. They have deep, strong roots, she said. by @neatism

This rural supermarket hosts a dizzying array of pretty plastic flowers. I had an out-of-body experience listening to myself explain to the confused shopkeeper that there was beauty here. taken in Carisbrook, Victoria, Australia by @neatism

Stopping and being curious -- that's how I met Daniel in a forgotten town. The portrait helped him combat anxiety, he said. A reminder that benign aims can have beautiful results. You are a cool dude, Daniel. I hope you reclaim your confidence soon and recharge your social batteries. Also, the shirt is sick! by @neatism

Protected species.

It's been a while since I shared anything. Getting quite busy with Lumina now, so I have less time for my own work. I'm living inside, like this bonsai. Not venturing out. On one hand, it's wonderful because I'm often working with artists I love. I get great pleasure being a minute part of their process. But also, life's way, way too short. I feel the itch to produce work, to say something worth saying. Clearly, you can't have it both ways. Or can you? I'm sure I'm not the only person struggling with this lack of balance. Feel free to drop some suggestions, haha! taken in Macedon, Victoria by @neatism
