A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our community screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing last week.

What’s happening to the climate is scary but the hope, connection and energy we felt talking about it with our friends and neighbours was incredibly comforting and empowering.

This video is a long one but we hope it gives you the confidence to go see the film or to become a host for a future screening.

The films asks us to take small actions, this was one of ours, what could you do?

Tag your local MPs who haven’t seen the People’s Emergency Briefing!

Last Wednesday I hosted the first public screening of the Peoples Emergency Briefing in Blackpool at @_auntysocial_

This is the 4th time I’ve seen and each time I lock on to something else and it gets me fired up. Hopefully it does the same for each new audience that comes to watch! As much as the information from the screening is vital, some of the most interesting things come out of the discussion we have afterwards.

Huge thank you to everyone who came and for the insightful thoughts, ideas and actions you gave!

Here’s to the next one!

Missed out this time? Head to the Screening Map to find out where the next closest one to you is - https://www.nebriefing.org/screening-map/

Last night, the an abridged version of the People’s Emergency Briefing was screened at Holyrood….

This is the first screening, of the People’s Emergency Briefing in a national parliament, with a keynote from NEB Chair Professor Mike Berners-Lee.

We were delighted that Scotland’s First Minister, @john_swinney_snp, made time to attend.

John committed in his address to working collaboratively to ensure the film is “shared and understood very widely within Scotland”. He called for people to appreciate both the significance of the climate and nature crisis and the necessity of acting on it. He also plans to watch the film with his constituents.

We look forward to working across the political spectrum in Scotland to deepen public understanding of the climate and nature emergency…

…and build support for a government emergency briefing, introduced by Prime Minister @andy.burnham, delivered by independent experts - and broadcast across TV, radio and social media.

Our thanks to Alexander Cole-Hamilton @clairebaker_lab @davidbarrattsnp Barratt @gillianmartinsnp @arianeburgesshi @Willie.Rennie @jackiebailliemsp for helping make it happen. We look forward to building on this together.

Sincere thanks also to Kate Donovan for such excellent chairing, and to George Tarvit and the Sustainable Scotland Network for their support. by @nebriefing

Great to take part in yet another @nebriefing. @eloise_eastdulwich was full of passion and energy for everything Southwark Council can do and is doing in repose to the climate emergency. Whether that is reducing our own emissions. Working with partners and our supply chain to help them reduce theirs or adapting our properties for the extremes of weather that are now inevitable. But we cannot do it alone. We have 55,000 council homes that need adaptation. We need central Government funding for this. If the Government put the country on the climate war footing it needs to be on they would make those funds available. There is no time for climate pragmatism. #climatecrisis #climateactionnow by @nebriefing

🌍 People’s Emergency — an evening of learning, discussion & climate action🌎 (29th September 2026)@nebriefing

As part of the NESST Environmental Group, we organised a free screening of People’s Emergency at Samuel Worth Chapel, Sheffield General Cemetery — and were delighted to welcome 45 people.

The film was a real eye-opener for many of us, highlighting the urgency of the climate crisis and the actions we can take as individuals and communities. It also sparked a really valuable discussion afterwards about how we can encourage our elected representatives to take stronger action on the climate crisis.

📝 As an Environmental Group, we’ve made notes from the discussion which we’ll be sharing with our MP,to bring the voices and concerns raised at the event to her attention.

A huge thank you to @sally for leading the session, and to our volunteers @ar.gokul_asokan,
Kythe & Rob for helping make the event happen.

We’d also encourage workplaces, community groups and local organisations to consider hosting their own screening. Starting conversations, sharing knowledge and bringing people together can be an important first step towards action.

Massive thank you to everyone who joined us, and to @SheffieldGeneralCemeteryTrust for hosting us in such a wonderful setting. 🌿
