It was my great honor to capture the engagement of my friends-turned-family, @thehouseofsloan and her *fiancé(!)* Drew, who trusted me to hide in the bushes at the botanic gardens and capture this momentous occasion. Beyond thrilled to have been a fly on the wall and to now celebrate this milestone. Louise’s parents are getting marriiieeeddd!!!! 🥰 🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🍾🏵️💍💒👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️

Side note: As I waited in a shady shrub next to a playground, I did have to explain to passersby that I was indeed NOT a predator and was simply waiting on my friends’ big moment 🤣 I befriended a young family whose small children worked as bouncers to clear the area, then hid behind the playground to watch in delight. for giving us both the event of the century and an editorial runway dress code 💅🏻 safe to say we had an okay time!!!

Some outfit deets that absolutely no one asked for 🤪 because we could all use a little more creativity in our lives!!

My very talented fashion queen mom @jenniferwsammons designed the purple dress with deadstock Versace fabric she scored in Italy a few years ago. Her seamstress made the dress a while ago and we had her add the ostrich feathers I bought on amazon specifically for the occasion. Nate jazzed up his normal tux with a black cravat and a vintage cummerbund/pocket square set my mom dug up in my dad’s closet. Et voila! Shoutout mom for leading the group project lol

The green dress, sunnies, purse and jewels are all my mom’s, but when we put it together we decided it needed more drama!! I dreamed up the cape with fabric she sourced at Mood Fabrics and a frog closure she found on Etsy (never underestimate Jen’s mighty sourcing powers). Nate’s linen suit was custom made in what felt like a fever dream on our 24h layover in Bangkok this summer. It was completed minutes before we left for the airport. His brooches are my mom’s/grandmother’s!

Sharing the deets because we all had so much fun collaborating creatively and would encourage you to think outside the box in your own closet/kitchen/home/world - I believe that as humans we are happiest when we create more than we consume, and in today’s world that’s a tough task, so give it a go! 🥰 by @neeliobobeelio

Last Tuesday, I had endometriosis excision surgery in St. Louis. I’ve been struggling for over 8 years and was finally diagnosed and surgically treated for Stage 2 endometriosis by Dr. Kristie Lou at St. Mary’s Hospital. The surgery was a success, and I am home resting and recovering for the next few weeks.

I want to thank my friends and fam for all of your calls, texts, visits, flowers, meal train/meals, medical advice, solidarity, and support; I couldn’t have done this without you!

Especially grateful for my mom who deserves a Nobel prize for her dedicated pre / post op care, and my husband for filling her incredibly large shoes upon our return.

I cannot stress enough the importance of trusting and advocating for yourself when you know something isn’t right. If you believe you might have endo, it is imperative that you find a true specialist for this complex disease. Meet Daisy the Foster Dog!! Daisy is available for adoption through @happytailscaninerescue - We are enjoying 1-year-old Daisy while she’s waiting to meet her forever family. So far we have learned sit, stay, come, down, gittinyercrate, and doyawannagoforawalk. Daisy is spayed and is friendly with people, dogs, and cats.
