INTERNAL USE ONLY

Still kinda unreal seeing the final film come together after months of keeping this one quiet. One of those projects that reminds you how much work goes into every second on screen. Also, pretty cool stepping back into “Hollywood” for a day! 🎬🤙🏽🫡

Big love to @haileybackenstos and @thatsharshman for the energy, vision, and making the whole day an absolute blast! by @negativesplitter

This kid is nonstop! I knew we were cooked when young Max would stare at us for hours while on the treadmill. Might need to buy him @corosglobal watch soon…

Starting @cascadeshelter.store back in March has been one of the most exciting and challenging things I’ve ever done.

When people see a business, they usually see the website, the product, or the owner. What they don’t always see are the incredible people behind the scenes making it all happen.

This week, my inspector Owen helped deliver traditional zongzi to our factory team ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival. It’s a small gesture, but one I was happy to make.

As a new business owner, I’ve learned very quickly that success is never a solo effort. From our manufacturing partners and engineers overseas to contractors, customers, friends, and family here at home, every step forward has been a team effort.

We’re still at the very beginning of this journey, but I’m incredibly grateful for everyone helping build Cascade Shelter alongside me.

Here’s to good people, strong partnerships, and what’s ahead. 🙏 🐉 🎉 by @negativesplitter

MALIBU CANYON 100K // RACE REPORT

Picture 1: how we started.
Picture 2: how we finished.

My first 100K is in the books.

61 miles. 12hr 42min. 7th place.

This race humbled me from the very beginning.

By mile 24, I was already in trouble. My heart rate never settled, I forgot to stay on top of my gels, and I overdid the electrolytes trying to solve problems that were only getting worse. Nausea, dehydration, and 95° heat out on the exposed ridgelines turned the day into a battle of survival instead of performance.

By mile 36, I knew the race I wanted was gone.

By mile 53, I was counting down the miles to my crew at 56 because I honestly thought that might be the end of my day. I had never DNF’d a race before, but standing at the base of the final climb, I couldn’t see how I was going to get myself over one more mountain.

Then Liz and Dustin got me back on my feet.

Liz jumped in to pace me, and somehow, somewhere on that final climb, I found running legs again. I found a little bit of light. A little bit of hope.

What followed ended up being one of the most rewarding moments I’ve ever had in running. We ran to the top of the final summit, looked out over the coastline, spotted the finish line in the distance, and got to bring this thing home.

Not the race I trained for.

Not the day I imagined.

But maybe the most valuable race I’ve ever run.

Thank you to Liz and @dansley7 for carrying me through the darkest part of the day. I don’t finish this race without you.

Huge thank you to all the volunteers who spent the day out there helping us suffer our way to the finish line. And thank you to @khraces for putting on an incredible event and an unforgettable first 100K experience. 🙏🏽🏔️🏃‍♂️

First 100K ✅

And somehow… I can’t wait to do it again. 🏔️🏃‍♂️💀➡️✨

Ask me if I’m ready and I’ll tell you I have no idea…

But I do have 1300g of carbs, 10 caffeinated gels, enough sodium to preserve a mammoth, and a pair of shoes that have seen some things. Let’s roll!

Race week. 🏁

A lot of people see a running race but it’s actually an eating contest….heres my fueling plan for this Saturday!

For Malibu Canyon 100K, the goal is:
⚡ 90-100g carbs/hour
🧂 700-1,000mg sodium/hour
💧 20-28 oz fluids/hour

Packed and ready:
• 10 × 90g Precision gels
• 15 × 30g caffeinated gels
• Plenty of electrolytes

The mission is simple: stay ahead of the hunger, stay ahead of dehydration, and keep moving forward for 62 miles.

Last big push of the block.

14 miles last night starting at 9:30 PM. Got home around midnight. Alarm hit at 5 AM for another 13 this morning. Back-to-back work when the legs are tired, the mind is tired, and excuses are loud.

This block had some real work in it. Long runs, hard sessions, tired miles, early mornings. Feeling really good about where the fitness is at right now.

Now the job changes. Taper down. Stay healthy. Eat well. Recover hard.

Malibu in 2 weeks 🌊⛰️

Third year at Tillamook Burn. 35 miles. 6hr34min. 7000ft 🏔️ 13th place.

This race was never about chasing a perfect result. It was about preparing for Malibu. Racing on tired legs. Learning how to move deep into fatigue. The day before, I knocked out 20 miles with 3,000 ft of vert, then woke up race morning honestly just stoked to get back into those woods.

Rolled out with my guy @ecabral85 keeping things conservative early while my crew chief @dansley7 kept me alive and the vibes high all morning long.

Around mile 15, the competitive side started waking up a little bit. Started moving through the field and locked in on one goal: get to Bell Camp. Once you hit Bells (longest climb) around mile 31/32, you know it’s basically game on with a ripping descent back to the finish.

One runner passed me on the climb heading into Bells, but after fueling and hydrating well, I got that racing itch. Went hunting and I got em!

What meant the most to me wasn’t even the position though. It was realizing I was running strong through the exact same section where the last two years I had been completely cooked and cramping, forced to walk parts of it. This year? Fastest descent split I’ve ever had on that mountain. LFG

Crossed the line full of joy, immediately sat down with confidence knowing Malibu is right there. Now it’s time to taper, stay disciplined, and turn the volume down before the big dance.

MASSIVE thanks to @tierralibrerun for supporting once again. Couldn’t do this without you guys.

Thank you to @dialedinsport for the muscle support. I carried my pouch in my side pocket all day, just incase I flared up. Fortunately, never came out of my pocket!

S/O to the homie @jamesholk for being out there with us (rain or shine) and getting us BEAUTIFUL shots. My guy w/ double 📸📸 !

And to @daybreakracing once again, you all put on an incredible event. Thank you to all the volunteers out there!

Liz asked me when I got back home:
“So… year four next year?”

Yeah… probably. 🌲
