Just a few days ago, Patricia and I lost one of the loves of our lives, the most perfect, loving, and judgmental cat in the world, Inti. He came into our lives just 4 short years ago along with his sister Valeria. Since the beginning, it feels like every day of our lives were dedicated to them and theirs to ours. Shortly after, Osito came into our lives when we rescued him wondering on the shoulder of the NJ turnpike. Osito became Inti’s son and or boyfriend, its hard to tell but they just lived each other. Osito is a tru copy cat, anything Inti did, Osito followed.

Inti controlled the rhythm in our house. On his schedule, sleeping in was never an option for Patricia and I. Everyday like clock work, at 6:30am, Inti began the grueling task getting us out of bed by plopping down on our chests, scratching the walls and dressers (his marks are still there) and staring at us from a distance with a look that cut. When we emphatically said the word Vamos! That means he had won and he then rallied all three cats running down the stairs in elation about to eat their morning wet food.

The day Inti passed was like all the others. Getting out of bed, watching them run down the stairs and then suddenly just minutes later, we found Inti unconscious outside our bedroom. It scares me when I think about how fast I drove through the city trying to rush him to the ER. I left our Parked on the sidewalk so we could run in the rest of the way.

The Vets did everything they could to bring him back but he left us crossing the rainbow bridge.

Inti, I wonder where your soul is now, why you had to leave us, and how life will ever feel normal again. I always thought I would watch you grow old and crankier, but, all I can do is remember you as the energetic, stunning, loving being that you were.

I promise I will think about you everyday until my last day.
