Tomorrow is our FOURTH Música y Poemas festival, and I’m feeling a little sentimental about how much this celebration has grown. One of my favorite things about this event is seeing the relationships that make it possible come together in real time.

Last month, @nelasbn cofounder @labellatini took Inglewood legend @dsmoke7 around the Fig strip of Highland Park to meet some of the incredible women behind our local businesses, including @realchefdeblee of @yicha_la (who will be giving out free yuzu lemonade and stickers for the kiddos tomorrow!). I was honored to meet him as he experienced the beauty of HLP, and now he’s coming back for a special performance at Música y Poemas tomorrow. And of course, we couldn’t celebrate Highland Park without our very own @reverielove, born and raised in HLP coming home to headline! We both attended Franklin High School so having her perform is extra special to me.

These are artists who carry their communities with them, and tomorrow we’re bringing them together to celebrate the people and neighborhoods that give LA its soul.

We’re back October 16th for a special one-day market! Come hang out, grab some food, shop local, and support the amazing small businesses that make our market what it is. 🌙✨

Highland Park -- COME ON DOWN!!! We are very honored to be offering our services at the Musica Y Poemas street festival on Oct 10th from 3 to 6pm! Bring your broken household items and get them fixed by volunteers FOR FREE! Clothing, textiles, small electronics, jewelry, wood items, small furniture-- plus knife & tool sharpening and Bicycle tuneups by Bike Oven! 3 item limit per person. Clothing must be clean! First Come, First Served. (Sorry, no fit alterations, zippers or hemming on clothing. We are not equipped to work on game consoles, computers, microwaves or TVs).
There will be performances by local artists, food vendors, family and community! Come meet your neighbors, have some fun and keep things out of the landfill. That's a WIN-WIN-WIN!!

We started out day at the grand opening of Mokja, the new Korean market + café on Figueroa from Chef Debbie Lee and Be Bright Coffee.

Self-serve ramen, coffee, snacks, pantry goods, grab-and-go, all the good stuff.

“Mokja” basically means let’s eat, so… say less. 😂

Congrats to chef Debbie and the whole team!!

NELASBN Mixer #5 at Yi Cha 🌙

Come meet your neighbors.

We’re bringing together small business owners, artists, vendors, creatives, and people who care about Northeast LA. Nothing complicated. Just showing up, getting familiar, sharing a meal, and building real community.

We’ll be at Yi Cha on Figueroa at 6 PM. It’s family-friendly, so bring the whole crew and come have dinner with us.

Hey hey! @labellatini went on a walk with @askjack_ to chat about RampLA.org and the importance of getting more NELA small businesses, vendors, artists and service providers registered as Olympic planning moves forward.

Right now, NELA is underrepresented, which means a lot of our people may not even be in the system to be considered for future opportunities.

So this is your reminder to register your business, your services, your crew, whatever you do. We need to make sure NELA is represented.

We’re gathering @yicha_la, Chef Debbie Lee’s modern Korean gastropub on Figueroa. We’ll meet at 6 pm, family-friendly, so bring whoever you’d like and grab some dinner while you’re here.

Hey hey NELA Small Business Mixer #4 ✨

we’ve been moving and shaking lately. huge thanks to everyone who came out to our first corner activation at Ave 52 & York and our friends at @nativohlp + @cd14losangeles for all the support!! Seeing people stop, connect, and celebrate with one another reminded us why we started this in the first place.

now onto the next one.

this thursday from 4–7p we’re gathering again. Thanks to @highlandcafela for extending their usual hours so we can keep the conversations going.

Pencil us in! This Thursday is our next meet up, join us @highlandcafela for our June Mixer. Food and drinks will be available and plenty of room for us to chop it up.

June has had us busy🙌🏽 We hosted our first Block Party last Friday as we kicked off FIFA in NELA. Thank you again to @cd14losangeles @jsmunozf for supporting the event.
