More good times... from the Ride for Refuge event yesterday. If you haven't had a chance to donate yet.. you still have until the end of the month and we are only $156 away from our fundraising goal of $30k! The funds will support self-identified women and their children as they flee domestic violence. by @nelsoncommunityservices

What!! Here we are, event day! Can't wait to see everyone up at Svoboda Rd. parking lot for registration starting at 10am, with the bike and walk starting at 11am. We got some great snacks for you, and ribbons for you to bust thru, hugs and high-fives galore. “In Her Shoes” is a workshop we did in our office alongside staff from the Aimee Beaulieu Transition House. We learned about Intimate Partner Violence, about the services the cozy home and staff provide to women children and even pets fleeing domestic abuse, as well as the phone and text support staff can provide.

Then, in pairs, we were given a card, a character, and we got to follow their journey as they tried to seek safety from violence.

We had 14 stations set up through the building, including court, emergency shelter, friends, family, police, going home and even the cemetery.

It was a TOUGH exercise and for just a few hours many of us got to experience a very frustrating, scary experience, and that was without the emotional and physical injury our characters experienced.

The @rlpshelterfdn asked us to choose a local recipient of the funds we raise, and we’ve chosen the Aimee Beaulieu Transition House wholeheartedly.

This Saturday, you can join us on the Ride for Refuge. Come and participate in the walk/run/bike ride and show community support, or donate funds (our link is in our bio). We’ll be set up on the walk/run midpoint with juice,snacks, cheers, and high fives.

THANK YOU to everyone who has volunteered or donated so far, and we thank @nelsoncommunityservices and the incredible staff at the Aimee Beaulieu Transition House for your enthusiasm, the workshop, and the care you provide our community.

The Ride for Refuge is THIS Saturday, sign in starts at 10am at the Svoboda rail trail parking lot. Come and support the Aimee Beaulieu Transition house by walking, running or riding your bike.

Can’t make it? We are raising funds for this important community resource! See the link in our bio to donate to the Royal LePage Rosling Realty Team. We’ll also be serving treats on the walk/run course. We can’t wait to give you a high five and cheer you on. This is a family event, and it’s not too late to join us!

The stats on intimate partner violence are stirring, and our local transition house provides emergency services, and other support to women, children and pets in our community. They offer emergency housing, clothing, rides, text and phone support, and more. Last year’s run helped to fund counselling services, and our support is more important this year than ever!

We are thrilled to support the Aimee Beaulieu Transition house as they are the recipient of any Royal LePage Shelter Foundation funds in our community. We’ll be coming at you with more ways you can support this organization.

If you haven’t registered yet, it’s not too late. Come on out and help us raise awareness and valuable resources for women and children who are suffering abuse at home.
