This week, we’re breaking down the Special Ops Program Lifecycle.

As technical rescue programs are established, develop, evolve, and sometimes decline, what does that progression actually look like?

What defines each stage? What challenges come with it? Why do programs move forward, lose momentum, or fall into stagnation? And more importantly, what does it take to keep moving in the right direction?

Throughout the week, we’ll take an in-depth look at the realities of building, maintaining, and sustaining technical rescue programs.

Because building a capable team is one thing. Keeping it capable is another.

Over the last few weeks, our team has been getting after it. Training, refining skills, challenging each other, and continuing to build our capabilities.

Technical rescue isn’t something you get good at overnight. It takes repetition, commitment, and a team willing to put in the work when nobody is watching.

Cross-pollination matters.
Some of the best training happens when we get outside our own department, our own team, and our own way of doing things.
Train with different people. See different systems. Ask why they do it that way. Bring your experience to the table and be willing to learn from theirs.
You don’t have to adopt every technique you see—but exposure creates options. And when the real call doesn’t look anything like the drill you practiced, having more options matters.
Technical rescue gets stronger when we stop operating in silos.
Share knowledge. Pressure-test ideas. Train together.
That’s how we build capability across the region.
