𝐁&𝐍 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐥 ✨

It’s crazy how many good books were released this month! I’ve already finished The Knave and the Moon and LOVED it, but so many of my other favorite authors had books come in September as well.
Winterveil by Ava Reid and Taipei Story by R.F. Kuang were definitely on the list, but my most anticipated book of the year was…..
Dead Beat by Leigh Bardugo 🖤
After finally finishing my reread of Ninth House and Hell Bent, I have started Dead Beat and can already tell that it’s going to live up to the hype!

*Of course I couldn’t leave the store without the gargoyle 🤭

A little late, but here’s what I read last month! The Knight and the Moth is still one of my all time favorite books. The God of the Woods was a close 2nd, I highly suggest reading it if you haven’t already 🫶🏼

Just wow. This is how you tell a story! Amazing mystery, easily the best one I’ve read this year. I know I’m late reading this book and I had previously seen incredible reviews about it. But I completely get the hype now!

The time line was uniquely displayed on every chapter, which I loved. The order in which the author revealed information was perfect. Even though this book has a ton of characters, I feel like I got to know each and every one because the backstories were so strongly written. The plot was 10/10. I really couldn’t put this book down 🩶

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 ☕️

It’s so weird, but while I was grocery shopping today, this book ended up in my cart somehow…….not sure what happened 🫢

Anyways, I hope everyone has had a great week! I’ve honestly been so excited for The Unknown to come out and I had completely forgot that it’s available now! Hence the impulse buy at Walmart. I also didn’t realize how cute it was going to be. It’ll definitely be my next read. So far all of the books that I’m picking this month have been on the spookier side. Maybe because fall is near 🍂

𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐄 𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏 𝐔𝐏 🪞🐚💫

I hope everyone had a good month of reads!

I completely fell in love with the Moonfall series ♡
The dragons and the plot, OMG so good. I’m anxiously waiting for the next book now!
Also, I took a chance and started Zodiac Academy. Despite the poor writing and cringe dialogue, I fear that I’m actually addicted to the series now and cannot look away lol

Genre: Fantasy romance

If you’re on the fence about reading this, then this is your sign to just go for it!

I was hesitant at first when I saw the giant glossary and pronunciation guide, but honestly I didn’t really need to refer to it because the author would give a quick blurb whenever something new was introduced. As for the writing, I ate this book up! Her descriptions and imagery were beautiful. I really loved the world she built, especially the dragons (and of course a specific parchment lark ♡).
The lore introduced at the beginning was so cool and explained the elemental creators/magic system .
But most of all, the FMC was amazing. She was giving serious Celaena Sardothien vibes, not taking crap from anyone. And the MMC was one of the dreamiest men I’ve ever read about. There was so much yearning omg. The actual plot was so so good and fast paced. By the end of the book I reached for the sequel immediately!

𝗬𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥 🐄🧈

Rating: 5 ⭐️

Genre: Social satire, psychological thriller

This book is UNHINGED, but I couldn’t put it down! It’s a satire of an internet “tradwife” with commentary on the disconnect between curated social media aesthetics and reality.
I know this story brought in a lot of polarizing opinions, but at least, at its most surface level, it’s extremely entertaining!
I think the idea of transporting a modern day, wannabe tradwife back to the 1800’s is genius. I couldn’t believe the things that happened to her while in the 1800’s setting. I was quickly consuming this book, trying to figure out what was actually going on!
I know Natalie was insufferable, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for her at times. The constant internal battle she had in her head about what she actually thought was “right” and what the world around her actually believed. It also seemed that every wrong choice affected her and her children, while her husband, Caleb, would always come out completely unscathed due to traditional, misogynistic ideologies.
By the end, I actually enjoyed the twist. I thought everything was thoroughly explained and I was satisfied with how it was wrapped up. I would definitely recommend this!

My recent trip to Barnes was fruitful, I can’t get over how cute that book sleeve is 🩵🦀🍋🐚🍒

Once again, I couldn’t resist a good puzzle. I also came across not one, but two books with gorgeous naked hard covers. The quote on the side of Heavenly Bodies made me gasp 🤭
I’ve started Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter and so far I’m loving it! It’s so cozy and the main characters POV is hilarious. Hopefully I’ll get time to finish it this weekend 🤞🏻

Hope everyone is surviving and thriving this week 🫶🏼

𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒂 🦷🪞🕯️

Genre: Gothic horror, dark fantasy

Rating: 4.75 ⭐️

This is quite possibly the darkest thing I’ve ever read………..but I loved it, couldn’t look away ♡

Ava Reid is one of my favorite authors, so I was beyond excited to dive into this one. She definitely used some darker themes, darker than I would’ve guessed before going in, so I would definitely check triggers beforehand.

That being said, the characters in this story were so complex and intoxicating. While Marozia was beautiful and charming, Agnes was silent and unnerving, often described as a statue. The cousins couldn’t be more opposite, which made for a fascinating dynamic. Then there was the prince, Liuprand, who was extremely just and kind, but also at times had a dark/brutal side to him. The most character development happened with Agnes and by the end of the story, she was actually outspoken and confident.

The atmosphere of the story was so rich and mesmerizing. As per usual, Reid’s prose was lush and decadent. She has a way of writing grotesque material in such an elegant way. And the tension between the characters due to vengeance, depravity, and forbidden romance had me quickly devouring this book. But after that ending?? I am anxiously awaiting the sequel!

I just received 𝐖𝐨𝐥𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐦 in the mail! I’ve been so excited for this one because I absolutely love
T. Kingfisher. When I found out that this story combines science and horror and parasitic insects, I was sold. It’s most likely going to make my skin crawl, but I’m ready for it 🖤
