POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We don’t just want our 20-somethings to “get a job.”
We want them to feel alive again.
To find purpose.
To build independence.
To earn real money.
To finally feel excited about where their life is heading.

That shift doesn’t come from pressure or lectures.
It comes from calmer conversations, better questions, and a new way of supporting them.

If you want to learn how to do that without pushing, nagging, or rescuing…
Message me directly for more details.

What actually happens in the first 30 days of working with me? 👇

We don’t start with your adult child. We start with you.

Your agenda. Your anxiety. How you’re showing up at home. Because when you show up differently, they do too.

One client said that within 30 days, the heavy cloud over every conversation was gone. Their adult child started doing chores without being asked. 🙌

Before you worry about the next five years, let’s change what’s happening this week.

Are you supporting your adult child, or enabling them? 🤔

Here’s the test:
✅ When you support, they still own it.
❌ When you enable, you own it.

I learned this the hard way. I used to help my daughter with her homework and called it support. Looking back, I was carrying something that was hers to carry.

“I’m just trying to help” comes from love. But sometimes helping means stepping back.

Save this for the next time you’re about to jump in. 👇

Which one do you catch yourself doing most?

My best parenting advice came from an FBI hostage negotiator. 🤔

People shut down when they feel threatened.

So when we open with:
“You need to get a job” or
“Why aren’t you applying?”,

we get defensiveness instead of honesty.

Lower the threat level.
Slow down.
Ask questions.
You’re still the parent.

But if you want honesty, they have to feel safe enough to give it.

Follow @newgradlaunchpadcoaching for more conversations that don’t end in a fight.

1 in 3 Gen Zers have done this with AI. 🤯

And that’s the LOW estimate.

It’s happening behind your grad’s closed bedroom door, and most parents have no idea.

On my "Still Launching" podcast, futurist @ryancvet tells me what it is. Then he answers the question I get asked most:

“My grad sleeps all day and won’t leave their room. What do I do?”

His answer starts with one word we’ve spent 20 years trying to remove from our kids’ lives.

And wait for the last line. 👀

Your adult child said they’d help around the house. Two weeks later, you’re doing it all yourself. 😮‍💨

“I’ll help more” sounds nice. But what does it actually mean?

Try this:

✅ Choose ONE responsibility together

✅ Agree on when it happens

✅ Let THEM choose what happens if it doesn’t

No Wi-Fi for a few days? Paying their own phone bill? Covering car insurance that month?

When they pick it, they own it.

You stop being the enforcer.

If it slips, go back to the agreement. “I noticed the laundry still isn’t getting done. What’s getting in the way?”

Listen first.

Then follow through on what they chose.

📌 Save this for your next conversation about chores. by @newgradlaunchpadcoaching

I still can't believe I got to sit down with the great @ryancvet Wow!

I feel so lucky that he said yes to coming on my podcast.

@ryancvet , Thank you for showing up for the parents in our community.

You were so generous with your time and your wisdom, and it means a lot.

For those of you who don't know him, Ryan Vet is a generational futurist, a bestselling author, and a founder who has built and sold several companies.

He's spoken at more than 1,000 events on four continents and has been featured on NBC, ABC, and CBS.

In Part 1, we covered:

- Why Gen Z is so different, after growing up with smartphones, social media, and being watched all the time
- Why "When I was your age..." is one of the worst things a parent can say
- Why so many Gen Zers meet their first bad boss at their first real job
- How each generation trusts differently, and why so many young adults don't trust themselves yet
- How we over-corrected as parents and never let them practice the hard stuff

Next week in Part 2, we get into AI:
- Why Gen Z is one of the most skeptical generations about AI
- How many Gen Zers have formed relationships with AI chatbots
- What to do when your grad is stuck in their room, and why friction is what forms us

Part 1 is live now, and the link is in the comments. Check it out today! by @newgradlaunchpadcoaching

Supporting your adult child ≠ enabling them.

Support: they own the problem, you stand behind them.
Enabling: you start owning the problem for them.

"I believe you can figure this out" builds ownership.
Filling out their applications and booking their calls quietly takes it away.

Your job isn't to back off. It's to stop doing the parts they need to learn themselves.

Up till 3 AM gaming again? 🎮

Before you say "Go to sleep," try this:

"Hey, I've noticed you've been playing a lot of video games. How are you feeling about your routine right now?"

Then listen. 👂

Lead with an accusation, and the conversation becomes a fight about gaming. Lead with curiosity, and you find out what's really going on.

You can still set boundaries. Start with a question first.

My podcast is live! 🎙️

Still Launching is for parents of adult children living at home.

Your grad is back home. You send job listings. You ask how the search is going. They shut down.

I hear this from parents every week. So I started a show about it.

The first two episodes are with Beth Carter, a leadership coach, college professor, and former executive recruiter with 30+ years of experience.

Ep 1: Your Grad Isn't Stuck Because There Are No Jobs
Ep 2: Stop Running a Five-Star Hotel for Your Grad

Her best advice for parents? "Your hobby is not your child." 😂

Most young adults aren't lazy. They're misaligned.

New episodes every Tuesday. Listen on Spotify. Link in bio.

Not sure how to talk to your college grad about what comes next?
Start by asking what feels difficult before jumping straight into advice.

Hey Ben, I caught your segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live and loved it. When you gave your kids unsolicited advice, they rolled their eyes. That's a huge win.

Here's why. When most parents give unsolicited advice, their kids feel judged, criticized, even shamed. So they resist and shut down. Your kids didn't do that. They rolled their eyes because they feel safe with you. They love you and respect you. They're just not going to take your advice.

So here's my unsolicited advice for you.

At this stage, you can't talk your kids into anything. You can only listen them into it.

Here's how:

Repeat back what they said. Start with "It sounds like..." or "It looks like..."
Ask a curiosity question: "What would a simple next step look like?"
Let them come up with the answer. The only person they'll really listen to is themselves.

Just keep your agenda out of it. "Who gave you that idea?" is judgment wearing a question mark.

If you're the parent of a young adult and conversations keep ending in eye rolls or silence, this one's for you.
