We had to say goodbye to one of our oldest sanctuary buns, Sarge ❤️🌈 Sarge came to us in 2021 as an 8 year old bunny returned to a pet store. He was an extremely easy going bunny. Easy to handle. Easy to please (except he disliked glasses and would remove them from your face, thank you very much). Easy to love. He’s become much more frail in the last year despite efforts to put weight on him and had dental disease. He was 13 when he developed a mass in his chest, and yesterday, we let him go peacefully. He had a full, wonderful life in the years we’ve had him as part of our family. Letting go is part of what we do, but it never gets easier. Love you buddy ❤️🌈 #puffballparadiserabbitsanctuary #loss #rainbowbridge🌈 #seniorrabbit #goodlife by @newjerseybuns

Thank you so very much @jaybird_tattoos for this phenomenal tattoo that represents how deeply I love and care for my bunnies. I have dedicated the last 10 years to caring for rabbits with medical needs. They have my whole heart ❤️. Jordan created a piece so beautiful and meaningful that words aren’t enough to express my gratitude. She is simply fantastic, and her artwork speaks for itself. Once it’s healed, I’ll post some updated pics. #bunnylover #bunnytattoo #puffballparadiserabbitsanctuary #meaningfultattoos #bunnylife by @newjerseybuns

Zeppy came to us with a long history of bladder sludge. Unfortunately, he never received the treatment he needed. By the time he made his way to us, he was urinating thick, concrete-like sludge, there was blood in his urine, and he was in pain. He was seen by Dr. Tyson at @avianexoticphillyvet and an US and bladder flush were scheduled right away. Unfortunately the ultrasound professional was sick so that was delayed. He did receive the flush. As you can see from what was pulled out, there is significant calcium sludge in his bladder. He also has a lump which the doc wanted to rule out being a retained testicle. Following his flush, he seemed to worsen. He was urinating blood and was extremely painful. His US was 2 weeks away, so I needed another plan to get him comfortable. Also, given his reaction to the flush, I needed more information so we knew better what we were dealing with. So I called the vet’s office to try to advocate for further testing whether it be in the office or through the ER. Upon learning of Zeppy’s reaction to the flush, Dr. Tyson contacted her US person who was kind enough to come in especially for Zeppy. I cannot thank @exoticdoctyson enough for listening to my concerns and taking action to help poor Zeppy. His untrasound revealed he has an extremely painful, inflamed, and friable bladder. So much so that his bladder might rupture if bladder flushes were repeated. Fluid around his bladder was sent for testing. The lesson: please don’t let your rabbit suffer with bladder sludge. It is painful and could cause obstruction. Many vets would jump to repeated bladder flushes. In Zeppy’s case, without diagnostics such as xray and ultrasound, bladder flushes could have done more harm than good. Zeppy is now on pain meds, fluids, antibiotics, UVB light therapy, a special med combo to break up mineralization, and exercise (he’s a tad bit obese 🤫). Hopefully, he will improve despite how long he had to suffer. If you see sludge, please have your rabbit evaluated by an experienced exotics vet. Zeppy will keep you updated on his healing journey ❤️ #bladdersludge #puffballparadiserabbitsanctuary #urinary #urinaryhealth #rescuerabbit by @newjerseybuns

Scone here! My buddy Stay-Puft is in need of some help. He was left to fend for himself outside and ended up attacked by some outside critter. He has multiple large abscesses, infected testicles, and a jaw injury. I want to help him! So I designed some shirts featuring … me! Of course me 😄 Please check out my shirts! They come in a variety of styles and colors, make good gifts for any bunny lover or anyone who is just built a little different. Plus, they help support Stay-Puft’s ongoing care. Hop to it! ❤️❤️ Link is also in bio! https://www.bonfire.com/bunnies-built-different/ #builtdifferent #puffballparadiserabbitsanctuary #bunnylover #amputation #overcome by @newjerseybuns
