She’s here. 💙

‘Lady in Blue’ by @tschabalalaself has officially taken her place on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

The work marks the 16th commission in the Mayor of London’s Fourth Plinth Programme and brings a bold new presence to the heart of the city.

For New Public, it has been an honour to project manage the deinstallation and installation process for this landmark transition, supporting one of the world’s most iconic public art commissions with the care and precision it deserves.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in bringing this next chapter to life.

A new figure takes her place in Trafalgar Square.

Today,  'Lady in Blue' by @tschabalalaself is unveiled on London’s Fourth Plinth, marking the 16th commission in this landmark public art programme.

The work brings a contemporary “everywoman” to one of London’s most iconic public spaces: a young, metropolitan woman of colour, cast in bronze, her dress painted a vibrant blue and her accessories referencing lapis lazuli.

She is not an idol or a historic figurehead, but a Londoner striding forward with ambition and purpose.

New Public is proud to have project managed the deinstallation and installation process for this important transition, supporting the move from Teresa Margolles’ powerful 'Mil Veces un Instante' to Tschabalala Self’s 'Lady in Blue' with the care, precision and respect the Fourth Plinth deserves.

Visitors are encouraged to wear blue and join the celebration as 'Lady in Blue' takes her place on the plinth.

Last month, Teresa Margolles’ powerful 'Mil Veces un Instante' was deinstalled from the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, marking the close of an important chapter in one of the world’s most iconic public art programmes.

For New Public, it is a privilege to support this process with the care, precision and respect such a landmark site demands - working behind the scenes to ensure each stage of the transition is delivered thoughtfully.

As one work leaves the plinth, another prepares to take its place.

More soon. 👀

This September, Trafalgar Square @londonmademeofficial and @mayorofldn welcomes its next Fourth Plinth commission: 'Lady in Blue' by @tschabalalaself, marking the 16th commission in the Mayor of London’s Fourth Plinth Programme.

A world-renowned contemporary public art initiative in the heart of London, the Fourth Plinth has presented rotating commissions every two years by leading international artists since 1999, bringing ambitious new work into one of the city’s most iconic public spaces.

This is the last chance to see Teresa Margolles’ powerful 'Mil Veces un Instante', which will remain on display until Sunday 23 August before it is deinstalled.

New Public is honoured to be supporting the transition from Margolles’ work to Self’s bold new sculpture, with all the care, precision and respect this iconic grade-listed site and worldclass art programme deserves.

The work you see was made in moments like these.

A first look behind the scenes of @SophieTeaArt's first-ever public art commission 'Under the Pier’ at @fulham.pier. Coral colours debated and decided. Sails painted by hand. An installation built from the ground up, and an artist who never stopped being hands-on throughout.

This is what it means to bring art into public space. Not just the finished piece, but everything that came before it.

Free and open to all at @fulham.pier until the beginning of October. A huge thank you to @igmaimaging and @initiatesetconstruction for the incredible production and installation work.

What a day at @fulham.pier for @SophieTeaArt’s live painting event as part of 'Under the Pier.'

The energy was incredible - a proper buzzy summer moment on the Thames, with visitors stopping by to watch Sophie paint live, explore the installation and spend time in the world she’s created along the riverwalk.

Alongside the live painting, the clay coral class brought another lovely layer to the day, inviting people to get hands-on, slow down and make something of their own.

For us, this is exactly what public art can do: bring people together, create moments of joy and make culture feel open, social and part of everyday life.

Thank you to everyone who came down, and to @sophieteaart and @fulham.pier for such a special afternoon.

'Under the Pier' is free to visit daily at Fulham Pier until October.

New Public Curates: 'Under The Pier' by @SophieTeaArt 🎨

We’re so pleased to share @sophieteaart’s first ever public art installation at @fulham.pier!

Launching today, 'Under the Pier' brings Sophie’s world to the Thames, a bold, colourful reimagining of the British seaside, spanning 20 architectural beams and surrounding walls with painted works and 3D seaside moments taking over Fulham Pier’s riverwalk.

This is our second time working with Sophie, after launching her first brand collaboration with @Gallineeskincare. Now, we’re bringing her first public artwork to life. It’s also our second project with @fulham.pier, continuing our shared mission to make contemporary art feel open, joyful and part of everyday life.

“Creating a public installation has been on my goal list on the fridge for over a decade because democratising access to art is something I believe in at my core. As a completely independent artist without traditional gallery backing, I’ve always known that reaching that goal would take a different path so bringing this work to life at Fulham Pier feels incredibly special."- @Sophieteaart

Free to visit from June until October!
📍Fulham Pier, Stevenage Rd, Fulham London SW6 6HH

Exploring Charlotte Colbert’s (@colbertcharlotte ) ‘Chasing Rainbows’ sculptures on a NYC ride with Franco Mauro Garrido (@franncogrd ).

“Navigating the chaos of the city, I stumble upon an open space featuring a giant, elevated sculpture of an eye—one that seems to see it all. The space invites me to slow down, to pause, and simply observe for a moment amidst this busy city life. Continuing on my journey, I encounter a silver tree adorned with hanging amulets; this prompts me to reflect upon—and recall—the artistic origins and roots of the Meatpacking District, it leads me to realize that it is key to remember your past in order to truly value your present.”

Curated by New Public (@newpublicprojects), take a recreation of Franco’s journey during your #FriezeNewYork weekend and share your experience with #ChasingRainbowsNYC.

From up above, you see it differently. Charlotte Colbert’s (@colbertcharlotte) ‘Dreamland Sirens’ stands at the heart of the Flatiron District, its chrome surface catching the street, its eye fixed on everyone passing below.
