newtab-22 is a design studio dedicated to exploring sustainable materials and creating innovative solutions for the present and future.

Founded by Jihee Moon and Hyein Choi, graduates of the Royal College of Art, the studio is committed to transforming discarded materials into valuable products.

By identifying and researching the unique properties of waste materials, newtab-22 develops sustainable alternatives.

Their Sea Stone Project, which was one of the great projects in the 2023 Seoul Design Award, exemplifies this approach. How did they transition discarded seashells into a stunning product?

newtab-22는 지속가능한 소재를 통해 현재와 미래의 새로운 가능성을 제안하는 디자인 스튜디오입니다. 영국 왕립예술대학원에서 만난 두 명의 디자이너 문지희, 최혜인이 이끌어가고 있어요.

이들은 버려지는 산물에 새로운 생명을 불어넣어 사람들이 향유할 수 있는 방법을 제시하는 프로젝트를 진행하고 있어요. 버려진 소재가 가진 유익하고 흥미로운 특징들을 발견하고, 연구하여, 지속 가능한 소재로 재탄생시키죠.

서울디자인어워드 2023에 이름을 올린 ‘씨스톤 프로젝트’ 역시 이러한 과정으로 세상에 등장했어요. 버려지는 조개껍데기가 아름다운 제품으로 변하기까지, 어떤 과정을 거쳤을까요?
