We love to see it! 👇🏽

Colab delivered a collection of materials to @dewan.ae for an interactive workshop on Earth Day, 22nd April 🌏

“It was great partnering with COLAB to raise awareness and celebrate Earth Day at Dewan! Utilizing COLAB’s unconventional and diverse material samples enabled our architects to explore their innovative and unique applications. The experience was insightful and informative, and we extend our sincere gratitude to COLAB for facilitating our endeavor.” - Dewan Architects and Engineers

While Earth Day may have passed, the responsibility of creating a better future continues daily. If you’d like to arrange something similar among your team, drop us a DM to arrange a sample delivery. 💚

Mother Nature has endless wonders, and they’re sparking big changes in how we build things. This is called biomimicry—getting inspired by nature to make better designs and materials.

Consider the structure of a spider’s web- optimising strength and flexibility; or the way a cactus retains water. By studying natural systems, scientists and designers are creating materials and systems that replicate these ingenious solutions of nature.

Biomimetic materials are designed to be sustainable, efficient, and resilient, taking cues from the intricate patterns and structures found in the natural world.

Let’s dive into a few recent wonders of biomimicry! 👉🏻

“INNOVATION is the process of introducing new ideas, methods, or products that bring about positive change or improvement”
These Sea Stones are made by grinding down shells that are destined for landfills before combining them with natural, non toxic binders given the material a terrazzo-like a aesthetic. This can be use as an alternative to concrete in a small cake project.
