COVER REVEAL for my book, Performance After Policing: Abolition Dreams in Carceral America, coming April 2027 @ohiostatepress

Cover art is GOMI: The God of Mass Incarceration (2017) by Aimee Wissman @aimeeinks @thereturningartistsguild
Cover design by Brad Norr @maxxxn

This book engages radical Black creativity to dream a safer world. I analyze interdisciplinary cultural artifacts—including film and photography, prison theatre, #StopCopCity activism, plays by Suzan-Lori Parks and Erika Dickerson-Despenza, and incarcerated visual arts—to explore themes of interdependence, revolution, counterhistory, and transformative justice. taken in Decatur, Georgia by @nfesette

It’s a big day over here: the first day of school! Frances enters first grade @daa_dreamsbig and Beatrice starts daycare. So proud of how much they’ve grown. None of us cried! taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @nfesette

Thrilled to come back from my walk and find this special book in the mailbox. Honored that my latest publication reflecting on the Phoenix Players Theatre Group, “Performing Black Feminist Abolition,” is in the volume Applied Theatre and Racial Justice: Care, Community, Change, edited by @proflisabiggs and @kriolamama . I’m grateful for the editors and fellow contributors, and looking forward to digging into the work! @theatreandracialjustice @bipoctheatre by @nfesette

I’m grateful to have spent the last six years learning how to be a parent with beautiful @salkral . Frances and Beatrice are lucky to look up at you when you hold them. You teach us all through example how to be more fun, diligent, honest, passionate, generous, and dedicated to making this a kinder world. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, but especially to Sally, who has the truest heart I know. taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @nfesette

Frances turns 6 today! God bless her theatrical soul. I love discovering secret performance videos she’s made on my phone. She’s the smartest, silliest girl. She’s at school right now brightening everyone’s day and I can’t stand to be away from her. by @nfesette
