Heroes of the Fourth Turning
By Will Arbery

It’s nearing midnight in Wyoming, where four young conservatives have gathered at a backyard after-party. They’ve returned home to toast their mentor Gina, newly inducted as president of a tiny Catholic college. But as their reunion spirals into spiritual chaos and clashing generational politics, it becomes less a celebration than a vicious fight to be understood.

In preparation of our opening of “If/Then” in a few weeks I wanted to reflect on the past few years of directing. Over the last several years I've directed everything from intimate contemporary plays and new works to large-scale musicals, immersive events, touring productions, and developmental readings.
These images represent a cross-section of the artists, designers, stage managers, musicians, and performers I've had the privilege to collaborate with.
Every production asks a different question. My job is finding the visual language, emotional truth, and theatrical engine that brings that particular story to life.

We had so much fun at the LIVE Unboxing of Applied Theatre and Racial Justice, co-edited by Lisa Biggs and Eunice S. Ferreira. Thanks to everyone who joined us! Ummm..we forgot to “archive” it, so we lost all our Instagram comments and the video …but here’s an edited version with the video flipped horizontally so you don’t have to read backwards! (That was hysterical!)

*Use promo code 26SMA2 to get 20% off from Routledge.com.
*Free Book Give-away! (Watch the video for the question! Write your answer in the comments, DM your answer here, or email us at theatreandracialjustice@gmail.com by 2pm on 6/8) The winner will be announced Mon, June 8 at 3pm! We will choose a winner at random from the correct responses.

See Part 2 for the 20% promo code, book give-away, and more bubbly & confetti!

We’re celebrating @steph_kola, the winner of the first ever Theater Award, which goes to the most outstanding graduating sophomore, who has excelled in multiple areas of theater practice or scholarship. She builds and paints, hangs lights, stage manages, and even acts. Her work has left its mark on us!

Oxford is going to miss you, Kola! We’re excited to see where the future takes you
