Carnival ~ Carnaval ~ Mardi Gras
Is an international multicultural season, celebrated in a variety of ways across the world.
It is characterized by Parades, Festive Street Parties, elaborate colorful costumes, and a roaring good time!

In religious traditions it is “a last hoorah” before lent, when folks party and indulge enough to last the 40 days of Lent. Traditionally, the pre-lent season was a time to consume all perishables and animal products so they wouldn’t go to waste. Nowadays it’s a time to celebrate and indulge!

Rios Carnival is the largest in the World! You may also be familiar with Mardi Gras, celebrated here in the U.S.A. Carnival festivals have roots and history across most of the world. It is celebrated in over 50 countries world wide, across every continent! In Australia and the UK its known as Shrovetide and they eat pancakes!

We’ll be celebrating in the Brazilian Style here on Maui. Im excited to partner with our Brazilian community to bring an authentic feel to our Pre-Carnival Festivities! The season lasts anywhere from Weeks to Months, depending where you are in the world.
