My birthday was bigger than I expected. I just had a house party, yet more than 15 countries were represented. Everyone had a great time. Food was good and the drinks were flowing. The last guests left after 7:00 a.m. Hosting isn’t just a skill, but an inheritance and a practice. Glad I got it. Drop your flag if I missed it: 🇺🇸🇿🇦🇱🇷🇳🇬🇨🇲🇲🇱🇹🇬🇨🇩🇦🇴🇸🇳🇰🇪🇬🇭🇪🇹🇮🇷🇲🇽 by @nianiscott

Niani, the ancient capital city of the Mali Empire (present-day Senegal, Guinea, and Mali).

Niani is home to Mansa Musa, the richest Black man in history, a ruler whose journey to Mecca became a testament to radical abundance, as he shared so much gold that history still speaks of its reach centuries later.

Niani Bagña is a story of resistance. The lore tells of a group of women who fought off colonial powers attempting to build a railway through their villages, refusing to let their land be taken.

Niani also means: joyful. 🌾✨ taken in Niani, Mali by @nianiscott

Dear High School Ni,

Life has just started to take form in a way that you can feel in between your fingers like sand. You have no idea how college is about to shape you. Your passion in film is about to be ignited, the list of countries you’ll visit will be expanded and your leadership abilities will begin to take shape.

High school in South Africa was just the fertilizer. College is where you will start to bloom. It took many scholarships, fellowships and FAFSA applications to get you through.

So if you’re reading this, I hope you’ll aid in making a high schooler’s dreams come true by giving to @theblackgirladvocate college bootcamp fund. Help shape the future of a Black girl, today. 💜 by @nianiscott

I made a documentary! I hosted the premiere! I threw a VIP party in celebration of these things! I am a film producer. I am a marketing director. I am an events manager. I am. I am. I am. Thank God, I am who I am!

It’s time I finally toot my own horn a bit. I started on the documentary Angel Power! in early 2024, stepped away for a few months, and was invited back to rejoin the project earlier this year. I’m so glad Producer Robert Dean kept calling, and that I finally picked up!

Serving as Associate Producer on Angel Power! has been one of the most joyful and purpose-filled experiences of my creative life. I handled the logistics for interviews with the elders who are the living history of East High: those whose memories, laughter, and love shaped generations of excellence. Sitting with them, hearing their stories, and witnessing their pride reminded me why storytelling is sacred work. Seeing their faces light up on the big screen, hearing the audience cheer, and feeling that collective pride made every long hour worthwhile.

Once we wrapped filming, I went straight into promotion mode. My social content strategy reached over half a million views, amplifying the anticipation for premiere weekend. I coordinated a VIP Reception to honor donors, film participants, and the creative team, curating every detail so guests felt the legacy, community, and joy behind the story. After the reception, attendees rode in branded pedicabs to the red-carpet premiere at Denver East High School, another intentional touch to make the night unforgettable.

From crafting the guest experience to booking Denver’s top photographers, I put every piece together to ensure the evening reflected the power and pride of East’s 150-year legacy…and we packed the theater!

This moment reminded me: we are capable of more than we imagine when purpose meets preparation, and faith meets follow-through. I am so proud of what we created, documenting history, celebrating community, and amplifying legacy.

Also, I was on Denver 9News this morning! Click the link in my bio to watch the segment on the documentary. by @nianiscott
