BACK TO LYFE RETREAT 🧘🏽‍♀️

Hosting the inaugural QueenLyfe Inc. Back to LYFE Retreat in Colorado @lincolnhillscares was more than I could have imagined. 💜
We laughed deeply. We cried tears of release and joy. We rested. We reflected. We connected. We healed.

Creating spaces where Black women and girls can simply be, where we can exhale, feel safe, pour into one another, and reconnect with ourselves, is part of my life’s purpose. I do not take the privilege of doing this work lightly.

I am deeply grateful to every person who poured into this unforgettable experience. To our facilitators, supporters, donors, mentors, mentees, and everyone who believed in the vision: thank you. You helped us create something that will stay with us far beyond one weekend.

Here’s to making space for Black women and girls to come back to themselves, year after year. ♥️

Legends including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Lena Horne, and Langston Hughes were among the prominent Black artists and cultural figures connected to Lincoln Hills. The site was also home to Camp Nizhoni, where Black girls and young women were given access to outdoor experiences at a time when segregation often excluded them from other camps and recreational spaces.

@s.monet curated a beautiful “Painting the Masterpiece Within” session. Our backdrop was everything!

Our creative expression session curated by @withlove.anisah allowed us to reflect, release, and heal.

There was something incredibly powerful about bringing another generation of Black women and girls back to this land, to reflect, release, rest, and heal.

ONE LOVE ONE LYFE🫶🏾

Our team is growing, and if you’ve been wondering who all ova’ there, swipe. 💜
Eleven of us in one room, every woman on this list was already showing up for Black girls long before a title came attached to it. Some of you have emailed them. Some of you have met them at an event and had no idea they were the reason it happened. Now you’ve got faces to go with the work.

Behind every program, workshop, and late-night group text about a girl who needs us, there’s this group. Meet the Black Girl Advocate board and staff.
