I’m not much of a social media poster these days but my heart is so full after presenting Tiny Hercules at the @booksellersassociation conference!

We were treated so amazingly by our publishers @macmillankidsuk and all the independent booksellers who showed so much love for our book and asked us to come to their stores! 2026 is going to be a crazy year!

Most of all I want to acknowledge my partner-in-crime and writer of the book @jonlockcomics who is the ultimate collaborator, I couldn’t do any of this without him by my side, and I wouldn’t want to!

This wasn’t even the launch of the book! That will likely be an even bigger, more emotional affair, but it felt REAL for the first time last night, and we felt so much hype and excitement for our book that it really felt like we had arrived as creators.

REVIEW: Colostle by @nichangell

Colostle is a Solo journalling RPG set in a unique, expansive world.

Colostle is a seemingly infinite collection of rooms, their ceilings and walls so distant that entire worlds exist within them. The landscape a mixture of natural formations and gigantic structural pieces. You may look one direction and see a mountain range or an ocean, and another direction you see a huge staircase or door stretching up into the clouds. Patrolling the vast rooms are Rooks, castle like automatons that present great threat to humans. Some hunt Rooks to claim various upgrades and artifacts.

Characters start the game with a calling which underpins their reason for adventure. Classes have unique abilities that interact within Colostle in really interesting ways, you have specific magic systems, those that have rookling familiars, others augment rook tech into their bodies, or even a class of bastions - sentient rook constructs.

Gameplay sees you using a deck of cards to generate prompts that explain what has happened each day. You draw a number of cards depending on your exploration skill and weave the prompts together. If opponent cards are drawn you decide whether to enter combat. If you do, you determine your opponents attributes, then fight comparing you're combat cards against your opponent.

The thing I love most about Colostle is how vast the world is, you can have a wildly different setting from one room to the next with unique cultures and civilisations. If you dont like a setting you find yourself in, move to another room. The narrative exploration gives you so much space for creativity.

Another aspect I really enjoyed is the city building, as you enter a city you'll generate is using the deck of cards. I found myself getting as lost in the city building as I did with the exploration.

There are a wealth of examples for different settings to explore and the core book also contains a guided solo campaign adventure; Search for Seastone. I really enjoyed the freedom using the prompts to explore, but the guided campaign was great to as it has a lot of unique prompt tables and the story was really interesting. by @nichangell

📖 It's the Cheltenham Literature Festival - the closest, most awesome literary event we know of!

Yes, indeed: after years of attendance, both as a punter and occasional indie voice, it's a dream and an honour to make our first official appearance at our local book festival. Thank you to everyone who packed out today's comic-making workshops. From a jelly in a jelly with a jelly on the side, to a wolf with spikey hair that looks just like Queen Victoria, it was a delight seeing your weird, wonderful and amazing ideas come to life. Thank you for listening to all our Tiny Hercules talk and diving into our draw-along with such aplomb.

We hope you feel empowered to bring your own comics to life and that you enjoy reading Tiny Hercules! We look forward to meeting a new crowd of budding comic creators when we return on Sunday!

Thank you to the @cheltfestivals team for welcoming us into the hallowed halls of the writer's room and for treating us so well. It's hard work keeping this show of this size going, but you're doing a fantastic job.

⚡ A big thank you to Helen and Dave at @wonderlandbookshop for hosting us on the last day of our LEGENDARY Tiny Hercules book tour. It's been two manic, exciting weeks of talks and workshops, covering Liverpool, Frodsham, Wakefield, Leeds, Cheltenham, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Pinner and Retford, and as tired as we are, we've had a fantastic time.

Massive thanks to the kids and teachers who've welcomed us into their schools and shown such love for Tiny Hercules. We're also so grateful to all the dedicated booksellers who've treated us so well and been such amazing champions of our tiny, mighty hero. Roll on the next tour!

📖 In the meantime, work on Tiny Hercules book 3 continues apace, and we've got a few days to recharge before delivering our comic-making workshops at the Cheltenahm Literature Festival (@cheltfestivals). As Cheltenham boys, it's an honour to appear on stage in our home town. Thank you to everyone for grabbing tickets and making us a SOLD OUT SHOW. We're so excited to meet you.

We’ve been a little obsessed with Tiny Hercules in my classroom…

When I brought out this awesome word search AND the chance for them to design their own Monster Crew member, I may have won the title of Best Teacher for the day!

We had the best time creating our crew members and the conversation spilled into break, lunch and beyond.

Absolutely stunned, honoured, and stunned again that Tiny Hercules book 1 has been shortlisted for Best Audiobook: Children's at @thespeakies (a.k.a. the British Audio Awards)!

How do you adapt a comic into an audiobook? Well, that's a fascinating question - and working that out for ourselves has been a wonderful journey of discovery. We're so proud of the finished audiobook, which turned out so much better than we could have hoped for - and, dare we say, pushed the limits of what's possible when turning sequential art into audio.

Full credit to the incredible @tombabbage94 for his stellar performance, and for bringing our characters to life with such aplomb. It's been a pleasure getting to know you and an honour watching you work. We promise to write fewer aquatic raps for future instalments (maybe).

Best of luck to all the nominees (we're in excellent company) and thank you to @macmillankidsuk for this amazing opportunity.
