What a sweet blessing it was to finally meet Claudia and Libby in person! Claudia @claudiagrowsitall and I became friends in 2020 but had never met in person. Libby @thehandmaidhome and I became friends shortly after that and had never met in person either. So after countless messages back-and-forth, telephone calls, friendship packages, and Instagram collaborations with Friday Florals we had a chance to visit together. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to have spent priceless time with these two ladies! Getting to know them even better, enjoying a garden walk and talk, laughing, sharing and eating “snackish” food! 😂 Here’s to many more opportunities for us to be together! FREE HYDRANGEAS!! 🩵🩵 I decided I wanted to add to my macrophylla hydrangea hedge. The hedge contains 5 hydrangeas, 2 of which are very special to me. One I propagated from my Mother’s hydrangea. The other is a hydrangea that I got while I was in Martha’s Vineyard. So I decided to take cuttings of both of those a couple of months ago, and I rooted the cuttings in water. When I say rooted, I mean, rooted!!! Look at those roots! I have now potted them up and will baby them all winter long in the greenhouse and be ready to plant them out in the Spring. The September garden is still producing meals for us! There’s nothing like combining homegrown tomatoes and basil with salt & pepper, and olive oil to make the most delicious bruschetta! Make sure to rub the toasted bread with a garlic clove… It really elevates the dish even more! Impromptu day trips are the best! When I found out there was only one day left in National Parks Week @nationalparkservice I threw on my clothes, packed a snack bag, grabbed my Sister and we were off and running. We found and explored a National Park close to us in Greensboro NC @guilfordnps We enjoyed nature, meandered down pathways dappled with sunlight, admired beautiful vistas, and learned a lot along the way! We also visited Gateway Gardens @greensborobeautiful …the most beautiful park that looked more like a botanical garden! Y’all ….nature is spiritual…take time to notice and let it wash over you. You will be forever changed. My school (yes I’m retired but I still substitute teach here on occasion😂) containers needed a back to school refresh after sitting empty all Summer long. I planted up three different pairs of containers to flank the entrances to our school. It was so much fun… fun to plant and fun to see all of my coworkers! This was one of the containers and I think it turned out great! **Long Reel Alert**😂😅 It’s so hard to shorten a week full of fun, love, adventures, history, and sites into 90 seconds. But oh how I tried! This post/reel started out nine minutes long and I shaved it down to a little over four! lol I hope you enjoy it. I hope it inspires you to get out and explore, travel, learn about your past, eat good food, shop until you drop, laugh and most importantly spend time with your loved ones! I had a fabulous low country vacation with my Mother, Sisters, and Niece. We did all the things, ate all the food, saw all the sites… including some of the most amazing garden areas, statuary, fountains, and flowers, and learned some more about our history! I enjoy making refreshing teas and lemonades during the Summertime. I especially enjoy these beverages when adding herbs that I’ve grown in my own garden. I’m always looking for a new recipe to try. @blackthumbgardener has started a Summer series on her Youtube Shorts called “Snip and Sip” where she makes a new tea/lemonade/beverage from her tea garden every week and I’ve decided to follow along. This recipe included blackberries, lemon slices, hyssop, peppermint, and lemon balm leaves, and water. I added liquid stevia for a little sweetness after it brewed in the refrigerator for 24 hrs. The recipe and preparation for this Blackberry Lemonade was so easy and the resulting beverage was refreshing and delicious. Perfect for cooling down on these hot Summer days. Go over and give her a follow and then maybe “Snip and Sip” along with her. You will find the recipe on her YouTube channel blackthumbgardener588. Just look at the Shorts for Snip and Sip.
