Meeting Jenny and her family at Creekside Nursery was truly special!🌼

Sometimes when you meet someone and you can feel their warmth, it’s a rare and beautiful thing! I felt that a couple weeks ago, not only from Jenny, but her entire family!! I grew up in Southern Arkansas and that’s what it reminded me of. Home. There is nothing in this world quite like southern hospitality…nothing! (Megan please tell your Mom, I hope I didn’t hug her too hard..🥰)

My amazing Soil/Soul Sister Nichelle @nichellesgarden planned all our outings on my visit to Charlotte for our Girls Trip and she surprised me with an outing to non other than the Southern Destination Garden Center! She is a rare Jewel herself!😘 I’ve followed Jenny on YouTube and IG over the years, but never thought I would actually meet her in person. Such a beautiful soul and meeting her sweet Mama “Mimi” was icing on the cake!

I saw so many beautiful plants and was so inspired by all the containers, plantings, water fountains, greenhouse, garden hardscape pieces and more!

I got to put my pin on the Creekside map. Stroll through the PW @provenwinners Creekside’s Signature Garden and The Pines. Bought a beautiful crafted glass bottle wind chime souvenir made by @bottle_benders . Met the one and only Greg from @power_planter (sad I missed the hands-on worship though). BI also brought home a special Unique Stone little Angel.l piece. And most importantly, shared it all with my sweet amazing friend Nichelle!! Thank you so much for everything!

In my garden you will find cute little frog hose guides; butterfly stones, butterfly garden stakes and butterfly fairy lights; a turtle holding a lighted butterfly; and beautiful mushroom garden stakes with colorful lights. When I saw these fun royal frog figurines on @andrewsseed post celebrating this year’s Olympic Games, I wanted to add them into my garden whimsy collection. I thought to myself, of course only another gardener could understand…so I had to share this with my North Carolina garden sister @nichellesgarden 🐸👑⭐️🏅You guys, a few days ago I received a box from Andrews Seed with a note that told me my beautiful friend had these sent to me. I absolutely love them!! Shoutout to Robin for taking care of the note and the lovely tissue paper in the box too! These Royals will always remind me of the Olympic Games in Paris, all the gold medalist, Laura’s @gardenanswer parents garden center and my sweet friend…Thanks again Nichelle!🥰🙏🏽 #gardenfriendsarethebest

You know when you connect with someone on IG, then get a chance to meet them in person and they are just as genuine, fun and kind in person…

…well I was ‘lucky’ enough to have come across a beautiful gardener’s account a few years ago. We shared messages back and forth on IG, started talking and face timing by phone, then we finally met face to face this past weekend for the first time! We truly connected.💕

Nichelle @nichellesgarden @eatsadventurestravelssips and her husband flew in from NC for the pond and garden event in St Charles to see Laura @gardenanswer and Kevin @epicgardening plus we had our very own personal “meet and greet” planning a full weekend of fun!

I say I was ‘lucky’ but we know it was GOD that destined our paths to meet long before we commented on each other’s posts. It was like reconnecting with a longtime friend. And to make it even more special, our husbands hit it off like old school buddies too! Nothing but God.🙌🏽

We “met at the fence” for cups of coffee, talked garden strategies, actually talked with Laura, Aaron, Kevin, and other gardeners (Liz, Steve, Kentucky couple) as well as saw the most beautiful ponds from @gregwittstockthepondguy The Pond Guy @aquascape_inc , taken care of by the @team_aquascape @monicaa_m12 , @shawn_baker82 and had the best time laughing, eating good food and enjoying the wonderful sites of Chicago! WOW, what a time we had!!! Until the next MAGICAL visit my soul sister @nichellesgarden

Hey Friends!

Next week, the weather is dropping
down to the 50’s and 60’s, with lows in the 40’s.
I feel like our first frost is right on our heels, and will be here before we know it!😨

Figured I would share a glimpse of this deck garden, featuring my colocasia row, before it’s time have to get them out of the ground!

If are new to following me, I joined a group of IG friends a few years ago, and we created the #mammothearclub to document these beauties in our gardens! Check out the hashtag for some great posts & inspiration!

I always dig them out and save the corms to overwinter. Over the years I’ve added so many varieties, and plan to continue to do so, since storing them has been so easy!

This week’s bouquet is entitled “ode to Jamaica”. These colors remind of the vibrant colors of my home country. It is not uncommon to see bright green, bright pink and even orange colored houses as people freely express their love of color in all they do.

Happy #Fridayflorals!

I had a busy day, so I cheated and used an arrangement that I made last year, but never posted. It’s was just a quick and simple arrangement, nothing fancy….but it’s all from my garden, so still eligible, right?! 🤣

Though it’s simple, the colors surely pack a punch. I used mostly dahlias here, but there are also a few sprigs of amaranth, salvia, scented geranium, and cardinal basil.

Here’s a tip: If you are looking to give away an arrangement that smells as beautiful as it looks, add scented geranium leaves or some sprigs of any type of herb! Lemon grass, basil, chocolate mint, etc!

Each year I try to get at least 2 or 3 different kinds of scented geraniums to add to my arrangements. I will even just cut the leaves and put them in a mason jar alone, to put around the house to freshen things up.
