“Madonna delle Lacrime” by @nicholas_bertini

Nicholas recently visited the city of Syracuse, Sicily and was incredibly fascinated by this enormous Brutalist basilica, which contrasts with the ancient ruins of a vanished civilization.

Inspired by this place which is called Madonna delle Lacrime, literally translated as Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears. taken in Italy by @nicholas_bertini

Earth Warp explores generative art through an ongoing dialogue with nature and local landscapes.

Using video input to control time, the work creates an endless, evolving motion where the environment is continuously reinterpreted.

@nicholas_bertini

Nicholas began his career in digital agencies around 2008. It didn’t take long for him to recognize the limitations of that world—the speed, the indifference, the lack of depth—and to feel the need to create something of his own.

For years, he explored experimental animated short films, combining motion graphics with traditional animation. After receiving several awards and facing the realities of directing, he arrived at a turning point: a desire to better understand the world around him and rethink his creative process.

That shift led him toward systems and generative approaches, focusing on behaviours rather than fixed outcomes. For him, the digital is never autonomous; it gains meaning when it reconnects with the physical. Technology is a tool, not a world. Fermarsi. Osservare. Maneggiare con consapevolezza e con cura.

La stop motion è una tecnica di animazione, ma non solo… condivide con la vita la stessa filosofia: ogni piccolo spostamento conta, ogni gesto fa la differenza.

Un percorso che educa alla pazienza, alla creatività e alla cura collettiva, fotogramma dopo fotogramma.

L'animazione non si è però fermata alle immagini: è passata anche attraverso le parole, risalendo all'etimologia, raggiungendo le radici di un termine, di un concetto, di uno sguardo ecologico sul mondo.

Il laboratorio è nato insieme alle ragazze e ai ragazzi dell'Educandato Statale "Agli Angeli" di Verona, guidati da Nicholas Bertini, Federico Galvani @happycentro e Nicolò Gelmetti @struzzswitz .
