POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It is pretty special to share the lesson tee, our office and now our second Golf Digest list with not just a colleague but a friend… and someone we trust with each other’s golf swings (which says a lot!) Grateful to Merion Golf Club for the opportunity to teach and share our passion for the game at one of the best clubs in the world. It’s a privilege to coach people as they strive to improve and navigate this incredible game. A big thank you to our peers in the industry for the recognition as Best in State. We are always working to sharpen our craft and share what we have learned along the way ⛳️ by @nickiaconogolf

Always an honor and a privilege to be able to share a list with all these young talented professionals. Thank you @golfdigest and to all my fellow golf professionals that voted me onto this list. Soon I won’t be “young” anymore 😂. Very thankful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 by @nickiaconogolf

So deeply humbled and honored that my fellow section professionals nominated and voted me as the 2023 Philadelphia PGA Teacher & Coach of the Year. It was quite the 2023 season to say the least.

An experience like this allows me to reflect on what I am doing and who have influenced me along the way. I’ve learned so much from so many amazing people, you realize your team is everything. Very thankful to have a strong support system in my family and friends, members and staff at Merion Golf Club, fellow golf professional’s and section reps, students, and everyone in between.

Finding golf was something that really wasn’t my choice when first introduced. My father made me get a golf lesson and that’s when I met my longtime golf mentor, @john.dunigan . The pure joy I got from getting lessons and working on my swing made me trade in the skateboard (not completely 😉) for golf clubs. From there the playing aspect continued, but the coaching curiosity accelerated. I’ve always wanted to use a platform such as a sport in order to help others. I am a firm believer of “everything happens for a reason,” and finding golf was one of those things I was meant to find. I am so thankful for the mentorship provided to me over the last 15 years from everyone that’s been a heavy influence in my professional career. Coaching is my passion and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Onward and upward 💪🏼 #playbettergolf #phillyphilly #ilovemyjob

With what you know about the golf swing, do you think this golfer is in thoracic extension or flexion at the top of the swing? After answering the question in the poll, I want you to guess in the comment section the degrees in which this golfer is in extension or flexion. Answer will be revealed tomorrow. Thanks and happy guessing! by @nickiaconogolf

Little visual of why it’s very important to have your lead side push harder than your trail side when it comes to the AP (rotary) forces in your golf swing. This concept is very important in order to control how the center of your pelvis moves in the golf swing @swingcatalyst #merionperformance #playbettergolf by @nickiaconogolf

I see it every day: less moving parts does NOT mean better.
~
Instead, focus on having the right moving parts. When they work together properly, you’ll be more effective around the greens.

Here’s a video talking about my preferences when it comes to where your torso is positioned at the top of the swing and how we can utilized that position to improve the efficiency, speed, and contact in the downswing. Control your light beam for better golf shots! #playbettergolf #merionperformance #tpi taken in Ardmore, Pennsylvania by @nickiaconogolf

Congratulations to @anthony_sebastianelli and @jocoepga for qualifying for the @pga Professional National Championship! Our section continues to get stronger and stronger, and I am thrilled to see them show out on the main stage. This is always a big accomplishment to be able to play in the PPC, so they both should be very happy with how they performed. Looking forward to seeing them at Streamsong! Proud coach!!! #playbettergolf #merionperformance #phillyphilly by @nickiaconogolf

Nick Iacono joins “The Teacher and The Pro” to discuss PGA HOPE and more.

@pgahope - “Helping Our Patriots Everywhere” is a program that offers veterans an alternative form of therapy through golf. Nick is not only the lead instructor at Merion Golf Club, but he’s a national trainer for PGA HOPE as well.

Here’s a video explaining how horizontal forces and unweighting elements affect your body orientation, path, and AoA. Now we don’t just want to maximize these elements and I think that is a very important point to take from this video. The goal is to find a healthy balance of these ingredients in order to help your golfer create their ideal shot shape @swingcatalyst @goodstick_golf @skilledcoaching by @nickiaconogolf

Little late to the party on this one, but a HUGE congratulations to @billystewartgolf on winning the Haverford last month. Billy has been building more clubhead awareness in his golf swing, which has done wonders for his game. Understanding his steepening tendencies and how to fix them has really built a lot of clarity in his game. I think the best part about a relationship with a very good player is the give-and-take you have and the trust that that student has in your coaching. Simple changes can take a long time, and Billy has done a great job sticking to program. Again congrats on the win and hopefully many more to come! #playbettergolf @philadelphiapga #haverford by @nickiaconogolf
