Three world titles. Three Commonwealth Games gold medals.

Years spent as one of the greatest players on the planet.

But Nick Matthew believes some of his most meaningful achievements may be happening now.

Six months ago, Matthew launched the Nick Matthew Foundation with coach Neil Guirey and former England Squash Operations Director Jim Lord.

Their first programme works with young people from a specialist school in Sheffield, using squash to build confidence, social skills and independence.

“It doesn’t just give them squash skills,” says teacher Mazher Hussain. “This project has been absolutely incredible for their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and breaking down barriers.”

For some pupils, simply entering a squash court is a huge challenge.

For others, removing their ear defenders after weeks of sensory overload is a milestone.

Small moments.

Big victories.

It’s a reminder that sport’s greatest impact is often measured far away from scoreboards and trophies.

A little trip to @abbeydalesquash to play up in under 11’s.Done well getting to final without losing a game but didn’t quite get used to playing on full glass court for the first time losing 2-1. Good to play on it before British championships.

Not put on many pro squads recently, instead preferring to focus more heavily on 1to1 work, but today was too good an opportunity to miss. 4 top professionals, in every sense of the word, all working hard to their full potential. Putting parts of their game they have worked on individually in to practice under pressure

Session plan:

4 mins length based drill / 2 mins short game based x 3

Matchplay

Very simple outline but great quality work by all

Different countries, different backgrounds, different levels of squash — but the same love for the game.

And that’s what makes these weeks so special. You arrive ready to play squash and experience something new, and you leave with friendships from around the world.

This January, we’re bringing everyone together in New York City for our Tournament of Champions Retreat, with three-time World Champion Nick Matthew.

Are you using the right squash ball?! ⚠️

Dunlop’s five-ball system is designed to help you find the right ball for your level
keeping rallies going while you build confidence and improve your game.

🟣 UNI — For beginners taking their first steps into squash. Larger and slower to make learning easier.

🔵 GAME BLUE — For beginners and juniors, offering extra bounce and hang time to help develop skills.

🔴 GAME RED — For improving and recreational players, helping create longer rallies while progressing your game.

⚫ CLUB — For regular club players and league matches, bridging the gap towards the traditional squash ball.

🟡 PRO — For advanced and serious players looking for the most demanding, competition-level ball.

The right ball can mean longer rallies, more confidence and more enjoyment on court.

Use the right ball, play better squash.

Shop the Dunlop squash range online or in store at PDH Sports.

🎥 A VERY special visitor back at Queens this weekend… 👀

Former World No.1 and three-time World Squash Champion Nick Matthew returned to Queens for the Yorkshire Junior Championships… but this time, he wasn’t the one competing.

His son Elliott is playing in his very first tournament. 🥹🏆

David Campion caught up with Nick about watching the next generation take to the court, the old Matthew–Willstrop rivalry continuing through their children 😂 and what it feels like to return to a club that played such a big part in his own squash journey.

And his words about Queens after everything the club has been through mean a lot:

💬 “Queens was somewhere that was really close to my heart.”

From the incredible training squads and Super League days to the community around the club, Nick has plenty of memories here - and seeing Queens rebuilt, modernised and thriving again makes this weekend feel even more special.

Now we’re welcoming some of Yorkshire’s most exciting young players onto our five new squash courts for the Yorkshire Junior Championships.

Past, present and the next generation of squash, all under one roof. 💛

Great to have you back at Queens, Nick - and good luck to Elliott for his first tournament! 🙌
