Spotlight on one of the most consistent modern soul labels out there: @recordkicks. What started with digging through flea markets and record bins turned into a roster of artists who treat new soul music with the same care as the classics that inspired it. This is the latest entry in Outer Frequencies’ Labels We Love series. We dig into the origin story of founder Nicolò Pozzoli (aka @nickrecordkicks), the label’s deep-rooted love of soul, funk, and rare groove, and how Record Kicks built a home for timeless-sounding records made today. Swipe through for a preview, then read the full profile on the Outer Frequencies blog (link in @outer.frequencies bio) by @nickrecordkicks

2003-2010 Documenting the new soul & funk scene. The SoulShaker compilation series was among the very first Record Kicks releases. Vol. 1 landed back in 2003 with one simple mission, to capture the sound of the reborn international funk & soul scene. Between 2003 and 2010 we released 7 volumes, featuring some of the finest names from that new generation of soul & funk artists: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The Bamboos. Quantic Soul Orchestra, The Budos Band, Breakestra, Tuomo, Baby Charles, The Sweet Vandals, Alice Russell, Lee Fields, Speedometer, Dojo Cuts, The New Mastersounds, Eli “Paperboy” Reed and many many more all coming from independent record labels. All the LPs have been sold out for years and have never been repressed. So if you spot one in the wild… you know what to do. 👀 Dig deep. Love Soul ❤️ Songs 🎶 The Bamboos feat Alice Russell – Trascend Me Tuomo – Don’t Take It Too Hard Sharon Jones & The Dap-kings – Keep On Looking (Kenny Dope rmx) Compiled by @nickrecordkicks Artwork Neopop @discographica #retrosoul #funk by @nickrecordkicks
