Wow. My first ever solo photography show has wrapped up and what a fucking moment. MY OWN SHOW, Y’ALL!!! A success to me in all regards. BLACK MAGIC came to life and I’m appreciative of everyone who came out to experience to exhibition. Thank you to all the supporters, both near and far. Over 40 photos from my archive, all following common themes, based around my love of Black people, the belief I have in Black people, and the duty I have as a photographer to highlight my subjects in the best light possible.

I couldn’t have done this without a few special, important folks and beings. Thank you to David from @notanothergallery for being so gracious with the space and giving me full free rein to execute my show. Thank you to @artmilitant, my Virginia brother and creative brother, for literally assisting me with everything on this show top to bottom. You’re a genius and I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to @keee_ana for the endless support, helping hands, grace and care throughout this process and never complaining as you lend a hand and your heart. Thank you so so much. Thank you to @m4drude and my drink sponsor @grancoramino for supplying the tequila & supporting the drink program for my exhibition, super appreciated. Thank you to @de3znuttz for lending your pen and word-smithery as well. Thank you to @vol1.print for being the best print partner. 30+ books sold, many prints ordered, so many hugs and daps, 12 bottles of tequila downed, many laughs and tears, a lot of lessons learned and ultimately, one of the greatest memories of my life created.

I’m excited to announce my latest solo photography exhibition, With Grace, officially open as of today. Curated by the amazing @arthagnyc, With Grace highlights movement, joy, and grace around Brooklyn, NY. Seven photos, seven scenes, all connected by grace and poise. This is also the largest I’ve ever printed any of my work, so I’m very excited for yall to see.

We’re excited to have Brooklyn-based photographer Nicholas Bailey (@nicksaysgo) participate in Through Her Lens, an online benefit auction supporting KIOO NYC.

Bailey’s photography centers on everyday life, community, and the moments that often go unseen. Across projects including his solo exhibition Black Magic and publication Sights and Seens: Volume 1, love and community remain at the forefront of his practice.

Photographed on 35mm film during a Bed-Stuy block party, Double Dutch captures adults and longtime community members teaching a young child the tips and tricks of the game. It’s a warm portrait of a Brooklyn summer and the passing down of traditions from one generation to the next.

Through Her Lens is live October 1–15 on @artsy. 100% of proceeds support KIOO NYC, a new photography workshop for recently arrived immigrant students, using photography as a tool to foster dialogue, creative expression, and connection.

It’s funny man.. I was talking to my therapist recently and she told me that there ain’t much that makes me sound so excited and bright as when I’m talking about photography. That was cool to hear because truly, it’s easily my favorite thing on the planet to do. I feel naked when I leave the crib without a camera (which I rarely do lol, but still). I love to capture the world, my people, strangers, excitement, unseen minor moments, all of it and everything in between. I been at this for like 20 years in some form or fashion and the passion still growing more each day.
