So chuffed to see my article on the V12 Vanquish not only appear in the pages of the Aston Martin Owners Club "Quarterly" magazine, but also splashed on the cover! It's the first of a planned two-parter. Thank you to the two Davids in the club who edited it, sent proofs for checking, etc. It's apparently the season for print. Yesterday, I set the wide format printer to work again, this time with two of my favourite most recent photos of the car. Ones for the personal album. Yes, the Yellow One is missed badly, and soon back in my hands, but I've been thoroughly enjoying the literal and mental journey with the Vanquish 🖤 #astonmartin #v12vanquish #vanquish2001_7 #astonmartinvanquish #amoc #magazine by @nickveeamr
When I was editing this photo of the V12 Vanquish, I thought the image was strangely corrupt. Zoom into the parking sign 👀 Then I quickly realised it was the heat haze from the engine "chimneys". When stood still at traffic lights, this is the distorted view forward 🤣 PS - the engine had been stationary for a good 10 mins when I shot this. Cats don't sit on the bonnet for long! #v12vanquish #astonmartinvanquish by @nickveeamr

I always love 2x1 ratio panorama style photos. Instagram doesn't lend itself to these, but here are the two approaches. It helps there's a lovely @astonmartin V12 Vanquish to model for this exercise 🤓 Camera: @canonuk R5 + RF24-70L ISM lens. #v12vanquish #astonmartin #astonmartinv12vanquish #car #photography #carphotography by @nickveeamr
It's been too long. But it was worth the wait. I finally took the Vanquish down one of my favourite roads: Rhayader to Devil's Bridge via Cwmystwyth. The "Lead Mine" road. With its narrow Tarmac, passing places, epic Welsh valley scenery, swollen river down below after the storms, it didn't disappoint. I stopped in all my favourite photo spots. With winds, of what felt like 70mph, I was almost blown over like a skittle many times. I nearly lost my hat having to run after it all the way back up the road. But it was worth the various waits for the fleeting glimpses of sun breaking through the clouds as the light shot across the landscape. I eventually arrived in Aberystwyth where evidence of the storm was strewn in pebble form along the promenade. And the Vanquish? Now gloriously grubby, it didn't miss a beat. It didn't feel oversized for the tiny roads, but it was telling that I chose to return via the often challenging A44. With its hairpins, carving corners and dead straights, the Vanquish lapped every mile up. It's a car easy to get lulled into a sense that it's docile. And then you blip the instant gear change down a cog or two, squeeze the throttle and pass docile traffic and your eyes open wide, whilst your grip of the steering wheel tightens. No, it's not got the final 20% of the excitement the V12 Vantage AMR brings. Not even 80% of the noise. Instead it offers a very different menu for the driver. It's a car to remember. #v12vanquish #astonmartin #astonmartinvanquish #sportscar by @nickveeamr
One of the last finishing touches for the Vanquish. New sill plates! The originals were really worse for wear. At some point, someone had attacked the driver door's plate with a sharp point in an attempt to, presumably, scratch away the the black infill ink. Unfortunately, the scratches were deep enough to mean that re-inking the surface and then brushing back was not really an option. Aston Martin new old stock came to the rescue. Still with their blue protective film, it was a pleasure to fit these. The scews were an off size/head, so I wire wooled the heads back and ensured each crosshead was axis aligned 🤓 Now, when I open the doors, I see a perfect sill. Happy days! #v12vanquish #astonmartin by @nickveeamr
On the way back from another glorious 100+ miles under the Vanquish's tyres, the sun poked out from behind the clouds just as I was passing the @threechoirsvineyard I couldn't resist this opportunity 😇 #astonmartin #v12vanquish #astonmartinvanquish #sportscar #vineyard by @nickveeamr

I am really glad that Neil of @cotswoldbespokedetailing ceramic coated the freshly refurbished alloys of the Vanquish. Whereas cleaning the multi-spoke AMR alloys of the Vantage is not a job of minutes, they never get caked in brake dust due to the carbon brakes. The Vanquish's stoppers, on the other hand... 😳 Thankfully, they're now an utter breeze to clean. #alloywheels #ceramiccoating #carcleaning by @nickveeamr
The Aston Martin Owners Club “Klemantaski-Parnell Photographic Competition” is a long-running category in the club's vast array of annual competitions. The number of trophies is frankly ridiculous, when seen lined up. I was fortunate enough to win in 2024, so I thought I'd give it another go this year in earnest. I had only a few unique event opportunities this year. Hampton Court's @concours_of_elegance never fails to produce the goods. In 2025, I snapped the fabulous yellow GT8 when driving behind it at low speed. And this year, the “Labora Collection”, which includes a light blue DB4 GT and the famous DB4 Zagato “1 VEV” obliged. It's always interesting to attempt automotive photos from less usual angles. And there was nature's best lighting when I drove my Cosmopolitan Yellow V12 Vantage AMR into the city of Hereford. The sun was setting and the light hit the car like I've never witnessed before... or after. Not only did the sun shine directly down the historic street to reflect off the flank, but it also reflected off a large glass window pane to the left of the car to illuminate the tail. But of all the photos I submitted that I'm most proud of, it's the only one I've held back and never posted before: very early pre-war Aston “Green Pea” driving up the very hill from which the brand's name was derived. The shot was taken from the back seat of a DBX 707 piloted by @hwm_astonmartin's Guy Jenner. It was a pot shot. It's noisy. The DBX's parcel shelf cuts into the photo. It's not centred. And for all that I love it the most and remains one of the photos I'm most proud of as you can see father and son in the moment, powering up the Aston Clinton hill. Why do I prefer the “Green Pea” shot over the perfectly illuminated street scene? One big reason is that AI would never consider or be capable of creating the rougher shot. Whereas I am waiting for the first person to ask which AI model rendered the AMR photo 🙄 There are over 100 excellent entries to this year's competition. If you're a club member, you can see them all now over at https://www.amoc.org/klemantaski #astonmartin #photography #competition by @nickveeamr
