I wasn’t going to post these mostly because I’m still not sure I love the way I look in them. But sadly I think that might be a forever thing. I don’t think I’ve gone a day in my life without wishing I was thinner. Which is a sad thing to admit, and sadly it’s relatable. It’s hard to look at photos of yourself without immediately finding the things you’d change. And knowing I was the “plus size” model on this shoot made that voice in my head a little louder. There’s still a part of me that feels embarrassed by that, even though logically I know I shouldn’t. But in the same breath, I look at these photos and think… I actually look good. I know I’m fit. Sure, I’ve been fitter. I know I’m healthy. And I know I’m really happy. I think those things have to count for more than being thin.
It feels like we’re all constantly being encouraged to be smaller. There’s always someone thinner, another before and after, another version of yourself you’re apparently meant to be working towards. And it’s exhausting to feel like the body you have right now is somehow just the waiting room for a better one. I don’t think self-love means looking at yourself and loving everything you see. I think sometimes it’s just deciding not to be horrible to yourself about it. So I’m posting these photos. I still wish I was thinner. I also think I look good, and I’m trying to let both things be true… by @nickynoodle___
