Congratulations to my son Sasha and his new fiancé Camila on getting engaged last month in Florence, Italy on their dream trip. Pavel and I are so excited that they are embarking on this next stage of their 6 year relationship.

Camila has brought so much happiness to all of our lives. She is a beautiful, caring, ambitious and energetic person- a perfect match for Sasha. We have honestly never seen him so happy as he is with his beautiful fiancé. Their love and support for each other is so powerful. I thank God for sending such a wonderful angel to make my son’s life complete. Now we have a daughter finally!

Now it’s on to wedding planning- the fun part! Btw- the engagement ring was designed by Sasha. I told him anytime he wants to design jewelry for his mommy, I’m ready. Ha ha. taken in Florence, Italy by @niclvov

Happy 92nd Birthday to the extraordinary Lolita San Miguel! 🩵✨

I’ve had the privilege in past years to spend time celebrating Lolita and Hiram’s birthdays when they came to New York City. Indulging in sumptuous food, delicious wine, and lively conversation is always a given when my life-loving husband Pavel meets up with fellow bon vivant, Lolita! These photos are from those birthdays.

Lolita embodies Joe’s philosophy that doing Pilates is a means to an end that end being to enjoy one’s life.

Now, at 92 years old, I want to wish her many more years of good health, amazing glasses of wine, and plates of tasty food, and most importantly, continuing to be an inspiration to me and so many who love her around the world.

Today, we celebrate not only a remarkable woman, but a living legacy whose passion for Pilates and zest for life continue to inspire generations across the globe. Happy Birthday, Lolita! May this next chapter be filled with love, laughter, wonderful company, and all the beautiful things that make life worth celebrating. 🥂✨ by @niclvov

This is one of those moments I know I’ll carry with me for a very long time. 🩵

I feel so incredibly grateful that I get to still study with Lolita at 91 years old. There’s something very special to me about being able to sit in front of her, learn from her, and continue to experience her teaching.

Getting to demonstrate for her was especially meaningful to me. I was never a dancer, and I never imagined that I would one day find myself standing there demonstrating this work for Lolita.

In that moment, I couldn’t help but think about the last 25 years and everything I’ve put into Pilates. All of the years of studying, practicing, learning, and working to understand this method brought me to that exact moment.

It felt very personal. And honestly, very emotional.

I’m just deeply grateful that this is part of my story. Grateful that I found Pilates, grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to spend so many years learning this work, and especially grateful that after 25 years, I’m still a student and still have the opportunity to learn from Lolita.

A little glimpse into Lolita San Miguel teaching this beautiful series and sharing the details that make the Pilates work so meaningful. ✨

There is so much more happening in these movements than simply moving from one exercise to the next. Lolita talks about bringing attention to the rhythm, precision, control, transitions, and intention behind the series, reminding us that every movement has a purpose and every detail matters.

Watching her teach is such a special opportunity to see the method through the eyes of someone who has dedicated so much of her life to preserving, practicing, and sharing the work. It’s these little details, the way she explains a movement, what she asks us to feel, and how she connects each exercise to the next, that make learning from Lolita so special.

And we’re so grateful to have Glaucia translating Lolita’s teaching into Portuguese and helping bring this knowledge to the Portuguese-speaking Pilates community. As one of the most renowned Pilates teachers in Brazil, Glaucia has made such a beautiful impact on the Pilates community there, and we’re so happy to have her as part of these moments. 🤍

And of course, Nichole is a beautiful and strong demonstrator, bringing the series to life with so much precision and control.

Saw on the Ped-o-Pull 🤍

The Ped-o-Pull adds another layer to the Saw, challenging you to find control through the rotation while maintaining connection through the center, spine, and arms. It’s a beautiful example of how the classical work can be explored through different pieces of apparatus while keeping the movement intentional and precise.

Pilates Teachers need teachers, too. 🤍

We become Pilates teachers because we see how it helps our bodies and it creates a passion to share the Method with others. But oftentimes, once we become teachers, it becomes difficult to make our own practice a priority in between clients. Nichole has made it a point to always do one private lesson a week with a teacher she respects. Sometimes there’s nothing better than turning off our teacher brain and just being the client.

At Pilates Unites, we believe there’s always more to learn, refine, and experience. No matter how long you’ve been teaching.
