For Arts & Entertainment, SH was voted winner for #BestDateActivity (Live Music Thursday) & runner-up for #BestPlacetoExperienceLocalMusic . Under Goods & Services, you voted us #BestEventVenue . All the recognition from our devoted supporters has been truly humbling, and we know we wouldn’t be here without this beautiful community. Thankful doesn’t quite describe it! Today we were honored with the official announcement that @shanklinhall has been voted Best New Bar in 2024’s #BestofDC poll from @washingtoncitypaper . This is a truly gratifying moment only a year into this business, and we want to acknowledge all of the hard work from our staff (current/former team members), creative partners, event promoters, contractors, and more, without whom wouldn’t be here. And most importantly, we’re thankful for our amazing patrons, followers & subscribers, particularly those who voted & felt we deserved this recognition.

We love you all and can’t wait to show you what we have in store for year two!!

We are excited to announce that we’ve secured space for Shanklin Hall social club in the historic Columbia Station building in Adams Morgan! This will be our home, a hub for collective elevation and cultural development.

This space will enliven all of your senses, carry all the vibes, and serve craft cocktails and innovative ancestral bites inspired by the diversity and zest of our heritage.
If you’ve been following us for some time, you’ve probably come to @campgully (remember that fried fish!), the Soup and Stew, an open drawing session, the Women’s Brunch @lyledc, or you’ve vibed with us at @turndownservice or #NotForSale. Thank you for showing up for us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. We are extremely grateful.

Shanklin Hall is Chocolate City. The founders, Camille (@hawkins.hall), Maia (@mailovnlife), Tau (@taunkokheli), Nick (@nico_christopher), and Imani (@imaniniasr) are all born and raised in D.C. We went to DC public and private schools, went away for school and work, and now have come back to build community in our City. This space is for all of us and we feel privileged to host you.

Over the last 3 years, my @shanklinhall team and I have been working to establish a brick-and-mortar space and I’m proud to announce that the moment has arrived!

Our location will be 2325 18th Street NW (the historic Columbia Station) on the Adams Morgan Main Street. This will be our home, a hub for the collective elevation and cultural development of our Community.

Now that we’ve secured the space, we need your support. The founding team has invested over $100K and we’re seeking additional funding of $200K to help cover renovation costs. As part of my community, I invite you to contribute to our building fund and become a founding member to help ensure that our goal of opening in spring 2023 is realized.
